My dad had a stroke December of 2023 and we are still struggling with his arm, but it’s still a huge recovery. He lost all abilities in the right (dominant) side. He is walking with cane now- we are all very impressed. But still struggling with the arm. He had the spacing in the shoulder and arm, his OT has recommended a stimulator that we use, but it’s so hard to keep him to wear it for 8hrs due to it shutting off automatically. Also uses an arm/shoulder sling that has a slight pillow that sits on the inside of his arm. Would these be safe for him to do. He has shown so much progress so far.

Thank you for these great exercises, Nathan. After I had a stroke, the doc gave me an alcohol shot in the armpit to reduce spasticity. It seems to have ruined my bicep. There's no muscle tone in it now, just flab. Initially I couldn't even curl one-pound. Now I'm at least able to curl three-pounds, but the effort it takes is tremendous. Will continued weight bearing exercises help me? I don't know if this is my new normal or if I should keep pushing.
@SKILLSANDWELLNESS2 жыл бұрын
Please keep pushing. Even body builders spend years to get those muscles. With your kind of motivation, you will have unlimited potential to recover

Could you do a high level video to go over the various stages of UE REHAB from Stroke, including symptoms and challenges of each stage, from paralysis, spasticity to Strengthening. It will be helpful to include a playlist to the individual video of each stage that you have made to get additional information. Thanks! It kind of gives a roadmap of what to expect and be prepared for. I made the mistake of skipping forward to working on the hand before the shoulder and elbow was ready.

I have been using the Motus Nova @MotusNova robotic wrist machine since May this year. My one year anniversary happened October 11th this year. I have been keeping track of my progress though it's been slow I've been recording on my phone the improvements I see so I can look back and listen when I feel down and I must say and I have seen improvements I was able to use the electric can opener which requires both hands. When I first had my stroke I couldn't even use it because I couldn't lift the can and you have to lift the can and hold it so that and then hold the top part and push down so the magnet will come out and hold the can. I was able to do that and I was able to hold the actually hold the blow dryer up. I'm still weak but I was able to hold it up higher yeah for a few seconds and that was very gratifying. The yogurt cup it doesn't droop as much when I hold it in my hand in the air I still wanted to stay longer but that was pretty good. and I have protein drinks I drink that is another area or I want my arm my wrist I want it to hold it up straight. I've noticed is my drop wrist used to kind of pop out when I lay flat and my masseuse told me look it looks flat now and I did notice this looks flat so it's helping I'm doing a lot of different things but this is definitely helping it I've done 1.2 million repetitions now.

Hi Nathan,I had my stroke in 2021. left side. Please assist me with assisted elbow be doing,when moving from half way to touch my shoulder,my fingers/palm come straight to my face through to my left eye.the problem here is that my hand/palm is somehow slanting or(when I try to face my palm up,it won't face completely up, my hand makes about 160degrees instedt of 180,basically if I havecoins or marbles on my palm,they will simple roll off my hand/palm toward my pinkie and off my hand to the floor. Also when doing my forearm rollingtryina open my hand/palm face up,it simple rolls back shut face down like a spring. I practically have to force it face up which is converse opposite to rolling. Please assist with your wisdom.regards and thanks for it all🙏
