I appreciate these talks SO MUCH! So many doctors out there(even endocrinologists) don’t know all of these things. Sadly people end up making poor health choices because they lack knowledge. Although there is this known link between gluten and Hashimotos, I know there must be a strong link to fluctuating (not just high) estrogen/progesterone and Hashimotos. Could you talk about this? Also, I can feel in my own body that when my t4is low but normal that is when I feel optimal. My endocrinologist disagrees.

What is your advice on coming off antidepressants if you’re peri menopausal? Will this affect thyroid ?

when your hormones are in flux--so is the gut-and that can affect mood. Ensure you are offloading your estrogen well and getting enough progesterone--often that needs to be supplemented in late peri-menopause. Once that happens and you feel good you can try to wean the anti-depressant slowly and see how you feel. Hormone fluctuations will affect thyroid numbers anti depressants should not
