Best sweep picking tutorial I've ever watched... Played for 30 yrs and sweep picking has been a real sticking point... Made more progress with this exercise in 2hrs than the last 30yrs..... THANK YOU!!!!
@georgehealy8350 Жыл бұрын
I have to agree with this 100%. I have watched a lot of sweep tutorials and could never play any of them. With this tutorial I could at least make my hands obey me, at probably 30% of the speed Ben does, but still it felt like progress which I have never achieved before.

Okay but why is this Specific grouping of arpeggios so insanely satisfying?? I’ve been shredding this progression for Ages, it’s So Good
@jokester5130 Жыл бұрын
Andalusian Cadence. It's been used forever and sounds great.
@Retrograde6 Жыл бұрын
It's an Aeolian progression. B Aeolian or D major. You could take any of these chords from D major and they'd sound great: Dmaj / Emin / F# min / G maj / A maj / B min (C# dim is in key too but sounds funky until you get the sound into your ear). You could take those chords and arrange them into different orders for different sounds. Experiment! 🤘

One thing that helped me out was not trying to change my picking technique when I go from sweeps to economy picking,and alternate picking. i find it easier to stay within the same hand position and movement to set myself up to go back into one or the other pick techniques. Hope this helps you

Fun exercise. Thanks for the reminder to accent the first notes... It's so easy to slide into them and just legato instead but didn't sound as good. I'm topping out at 120bpm triplets today before it gets a little sloppy. Need to work at it!

Its not the picking part that gives me trouble its the fret hand. I cant pull off cleanly while playing arpeggios. Maybe I need to focus on getting my pull offs cleaned up. Thanks Uncle Ben love your lessons.

When he talked about the swedish guy with the weird exaggerated technique, I tried it and it's actually great. That's what I'm gonna do from now on I think. It's weird but the exaggerated tilting back and forth of the pick makes a lot of sense to me

Excellent video, thanks as always :) Sweep picking has been something I've been trying to add to my repertoire for years and years! I know the gist of it seems to be the "flick" of the pick so you push through the string to essentially rest on the next string. For some reason I still struggle with this when pulling up the strings, as I seem to add a small pause, but seem ok when pushing down through the strings. Hoping practice makes perfect with this new video🤞

I always have issues with my fretting hand keeping up with the picking hand. As well as the picking hand not being very smooth. Im gonna try to focus on keeping the pick more slanted so it just slides off the string. Silently practicing my fretting hand on the proper notes too. Sweeping and solos in general are the bane of my existence

Love that RG550. I keep looking for one on Reverb. Apparently everyone else loves them too since they aren’t getting any cheaper! 😂 That color always reminded me of a Lake Placid Blue strat that I used to have. I just recently realized it was a MIJ strat made in the same factory as that RG (Fujigen) so maybe it really is the same color with a different name!? Also all of my favorite guitars I’ve owned where made in that factory, so now I’m thinking I need to try an FGN and maybe a MIJ Epiphone Les Paul while I’m at it!

My favorite warm up arpeggimos are a few from fermented offal discharge. Not a brag because I can't play the whole solo, but the sweeps I did learn from it are great warm-ups because they start out as partial sweeps that become full sweeps and then make you move around on the neck.
