Where did you find all the information on TCE? I can't find it other than the Callet stuff?

Rich Colquhoun has made lots of KZbin content. Plus the Trumpet Secrets book, and the TCE Playing Manual from Bahb Civiletti.

@@trumpetthoughts Yea, we are in touch and I have a lesson booked. It may be my only hope. I suffer from lips swelling. I tried to do Callet, and in the short tiem i did it it seemed to keep my lip from swelling mainly because the upper lip was not aligned with the lower lip thus it didn't create the same trauma to the lip when trying play in the higher registers. its still early tho. hope it fixes it. do you still get tired chops using TCE? since the corners of the mouth require them to be relaxed?

@@NDNdivergent My hunch is you are compressing your lips together too much, and thus having to blow too hard, thus creating swelling.

@@trumpetthoughts thanks man! that's very possible. i know I was also using too much pressure. but it doesn't seem to make any difference what register or how long I play, it happens very quickly and always has.

Of course you’re absolutely right because first there is less far less movement of the tongue in your mouth, and this reduces the collapsing of the compression in your mouth and next, if you use the tongue that way you tongue with the direction of the air and not against… the best thing I ever learned… even your practice or use the Cat Anderson(closed teeth) you can use it.. tremendous results…

Tongue and lips create a strong resistance, do you use the same resistance when playing on trumpet, as when practicing spit buzz?
@trumpetthoughts5 ай бұрын
No, the spit buzz has more resistance.

Не уверен что понял. Атака (начало звука) не кончиком языка, а первой третью? Классическая школа исполнительского мастерства, учит нас атаке кончиком языка.

If that works for you, that's fine. But I think most professional performers are actually using the top of the tongue, and not the tip. Если это работает для вас, это нормально. Но я думаю, что большинство профессиональных исполнителей на самом деле используют верхнюю часть языка, а не кончик.

With your personal journey of TCE and spit buzzing, what happens to your range when you do not play at all or maybe only a half-hour a day for say a week? At this time do you loose a little range and endurance or is not very much affected ?
@trumpetthoughts5 ай бұрын
I don't really lose much range, not at least in the normal playable area (up to high G or A above high C). My endurance also doesn't seem to change much...

My tongue has not yet found its place between my top lip and top fteeth so I still,struggle with endurance issues. Is it after the tongue gets much stronger that this Part of TCE will kick in?

It can certainly help. You might get a lesson with a TCE teacher to see if they can help. I recommend Rich Colquhoun.
