When we see clouds coming, we can accept there may be a storm coming. We don't have to panic, fret, or complain. That will not help or stop the storm. We can use constructive actions that will help us survive the storm.

Thanks alot for this, Doc. I think that ACT is something I would definitely benefit from and I really hope you make more videos about it. I'm going to listen to this several times to absorb it all.

You and your child do animal rescue! That's what I do and hope to have foster children someday! 2 1/2 years ago i had to rescue a feral mother cat and her three little kittens IN WINTER although i was overwhelmed and not up to it but the other rescuers were all busy and full. So i schlepped over there twice a day, found them, fed, and finally made myself trap them just before horrible cold came in. Didnt have anywhere to put them except in my overcrowded bedroom. They lived under my bed awhile, coming out when I was gone kr asleep to rat and litterbox. Pretty soon the kittens discovered playing, then zooming past me, then over me, at which point i started petting as they went past. The kids are tame now, indoor outdoor, and I've been able to pet momcat as she eats. The two girls are my joys, so I'm glad I didn't find homes for them as I'd planned!

I find a little should-ing helpful. My mind goes towards very negative thoughts & feeling patterns at night when I'm brushing my teeth and going to bed. Lately, I tell myself that I shouldn't "add gasoline to the fire". I remember It never leads anywhere helpful, it just makes me suffer. I promise myself to work on whatever problems I think of the following day and I don't pay undue attention to the feelings. I find it better than what I was living with before. Idk that its optimal, but its better.

I believe that the "A" in ACT should be "Acknowledge" rather than "Accept", because you accept offers, or can choose to reject them. But what is really done in that therapy is acknowledging as opposed to ignoring or circumventing or otherwise avoiding. What is, is, you can either acknowledge that, or ignore it, but it remains true. If it was a case of accepting, you could also reject it, and it wouldn't be / happen - and that is not the reality of the situation, you don't get the option to reject, it happens to you regardless, and so you can't choose to accept either.

10:05 "Fake it 'till you make it." I have also heard it said "Faith it 'till you make it." In the Big Book of Alcohics Anonymous (p. 88, chapter "Into Action") there is the quote "Faith without works is dead." That's the uncredited quote from the biblical verse from James 2:17. Init, we show our internal belief by corresponding actions.

Doc I decided to choose a Salamander as a pet over a Hamster I thought Salamander are more unusual peaceful living things who lives underground who don't have to deal with any humans on earth 🌍 Funny ❤. I thought Salamander are more independent peaceful living🎉 things.
