Brother David Pawson, I am confident heaven still rejoices not only because of your appearing before the King of glory, but equally at the many heavenly treasures the Spirit of God made you to prepare for His church even before you departed to glory. I'm doing the entire series and loving it. David is a great teacher, but he is incorrect in 10:37 when he says Joseph is the only man apart from Jesus in the Bible that is presented without a fault. Enoch is mentioned very briefly as a good man, such a good man that he is removed from the world by GOD. Joseph on the other hand did in fact commit a sin in the story we read of his life: he lied when he accused Benjamin of trying to steal from the palace. We all know what Joseph's intention was, and it was a good one, but he sinned none the less. Besides Jesus the 2 people in the Bible i admire most are Joseph and David.

@DavidPawsonMinistry2 жыл бұрын
I agree with you - let me say there are many great men in the OT - to name but 2 Enoch and Elijah did not see death but were taken up into heaven. David is teaching there are many ways to study the Bible and why its good to study the characters in the Bible, it was James who said the Bible is like a mirror nd you see yourself in it ad you learn - the Bible gives peoples good points and their bad points. their successes and their failures David was using Joseph as a reason why to study the characters of the Bible ...... it is widely accepted Josephs life mirrors Jesus in many ways, David he then summarises Sauls character and compares Saul to David .....David compares Hannah to Mary etc It is widely accepted that there are many similarities between Joseph and Jesus - Joseph shared many of the same life experiences as Jesus. Sold for money, raised from the pit, falsely accused, resisted temptation, foretold the future , provided for people in need, was not recognised, hated despised and humiliated etc . That said you are correct and I believe if David was with us now he would agree whole heartedly with you - that he was using a bit of poetic license and was not strictly correct in saying Joseph was the only man presented to us without a fault - thank you for pointing this out -

Why, Oh why, Oh why are we infested by a plague of nit-pickers? The discourse concerns character not familial issues! Abigail's relationship to anyone else is hardly the issue! What motivates all those who comment on David's highly acclaimed and superlative presentations with such depreciation? Pride? Do they want to be seen as more knowledgeable or a better scholar than David? What point, if any, are they trying to make? If they were they would remember the admonition of Jeshua- "let he who is without sin cast the first stone" they would, perhaps also consider the words written by Paul to Timothy":- "Remind them of these things, and solemnly charge them in the presence of God not to wrangle about words, which is useless and leads to the ruin of the hearers. Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth" If you are one of the nit-pickers are you charging David with inaccurately handling the word of truth? Last word from Proverbs:- A gentle answer turns away wrath, The tongue of the wise makes knowledge acceptable, But the mouth of fools spouts folly. Agapé and shalom.
@user-p7t3k2 жыл бұрын
Why oh why are people so offended by the truth?? Rightly dividing the Word is not nitpicking or casting stones. You are the only one casting stones and that might be because ppl tend to put good teachers upon a pedestal. A teacher should never be unquestionable. The Bereans even checked what the apostles taught! So should you. I don't care who the human is, I will check it against scripture. Solomon said watch out for the little foxes, (what you call nitpicking) the little foxes that over run the vineyard.

Nietsche's comment "God is dead" was not so much an atheist gloat but more of an... 'uh oh what now?' He went on to predict the 20th century and the millions of deaths under communism. Check out Jordan Peterson on the subject.
@grantbartley4834 жыл бұрын
Don't think the points about Nietzsche are quite accurate. 'God is dead' is not about what God does or doesn't do; rather N meant that belief in God is over (for Western civilisation). Nietzsche to his credit did realise that this would mean the death of objective morality with all the social destruction that would follow, as we have seen in the twentieth century. This led to Nietzsche trying to establish an alternative to morality 'beyond good and evil', and the (other) existentialists saying we must create our own values and meaning, too.
@grantbartley4834 жыл бұрын
PS Nietzsche's father was a Lutheran preacher who died when Friedrich was six. My theory is that this made N angry with God for the rest of his life.
