@@Northwestlocalbusiness Who uses directories? Well if you break down the results page you have ads on top maps listings and organics n Google , Bing whatever. Directories if done correctly will rank on keywords searched on Google , Bing whatever. So to answer your question the results on Google , Bing whatever is comprised of all types of sites and yes directory sites for example Home Advisor or Angie's List for a lot less than buying ads or trying to get their own site to rank because directory sites rank faster if done correctly. So hope that answers your question

I totally agree with NWLB. 99% can look up Google but over 50% of entities don't have websites or information about their businesses and directories provide the ideal platform to get everything about a business. Google will definitely refer those to the directories.

It looks like this failed, and he was part of a franchise. You dont need franchises anymore All info is on youtube these days.He was charging 25 dollars per listing. You would need 40 just to make 1000 dollars a month. To get 40 listings you prob have to call 400 businesses. Therefore starting off it may be better to have a national directory of a specific niche with adsense paid ads. Then when you are making some revenue, try build a local one.
