1:30 the numbers 0451 is a refrence to the door/chest code for old looking glass studio games. I was used in thief, system shock, deus ex, bioshock, prey (2017) and many other 'immersive sim games'. Ususlly it is found as the first code you use in a game as somewhat of a statement of intent, giving somewhat of a hint to the experience you can expect. This little tradition caught on how-ever and can now be found in many diverse types of games ranging from small indies like gone home and firewatch all the way to massive bestselling AAA titles like Fallout 4. Hope you liked this little history lesson :)
@crystallkingh30487 жыл бұрын
Also I should add, Looking glass studios first used this as a refrence to Farenheit 451, a dystopian future where they (the state) burned all the books.

Love your vids, man. But I think there's another explanation for that last one where the soldier was found locked in the shed. You say he was likely dragged into the shed and locked in after he was murdered. However, it didn't look like he was in the position of someone who had been dragged anywhere. It looked like he crawled to that spot. So I figure he was carrying his bag through the streets when somebody (likely looters) attacked him in an attempt to get his stuff. In an effort to get away, he ran into the shed and locked the door from the inside. He probably stayed against the door until his attacker gave up and left, then collapsed on the floor from the wounds he received during the scuffle. He then crawled further into the shed, looking for a better spot where he could try to recover or rest. This would explain his position, that the key was still on the desk upstairs, the lack of blood anywhere outside the door, as well as the fact that he doesn't appear to have been looted. Of course, without some official word, we're all free to contemplate the possibilities, which is probably where most of the fun really is. Imagination. Variety of interpretation. Either way, it's nifty knowing that such a small spot in the world with only a few minor details can bring out the detectives in us, seeking the real story. Keep on keeping on, bud, and we'll keep on watching.

I've got an unmarked location. I don't remember whether you covered this, but just southeast of the Radiant Crest Shrine in Far Harbor (at the southern tip of the body of water and along the main road) is an unmarked gas station. In the back, there is a set of cellar doors leading to the secret headquarters of the people who were terrorizing the Vim! Factory just before the bombs dropped. You'll find some weapons and ammo on a table, some Vim Captain's Blend they were trying to reverse-engineer, and a terminal with a few story entries. Also, is it just me, or do those "creepy faces" bear more than a passing resemblance to the decorative Dwemer faces in Skyrim?

I agree. F3 had one location over near Tenpenny Tower that was across a downed power transmission tower then down a manhole cover. Inside are some bear traps and a handy little hideaway with two doors that connect to the same room. You have to jump over some cabinets but, inside is a workbench, ham radio and plenty of shelving space. (but no bed) and one skeleton, probably prewar or early post war.

This is such a great idea for a series! My personal favorite unmarked location isn't terribly special: in the far upper left corner of the map, there's a small farm with a pond, a trader, and some cats. I'm fond of it because it was one of the first locations I found with an implied story. It's so remote, but the trader is surviving. It feels like a genuine piece of the rural Commonwealth.

Be warned, using random non-settlement locations as a player home can result in the loss of ALL items stored there when the spawn cycle resets various parts of the world. Oxhorn even recommended using a random encounter bunker as a player home. I found it in my game on the western-most side of the map next to a raider camp. I slept at the camp and the bunker entrance disappeared.

The word “apartment" comes from the French word appartement and the Italian word appartimento, both of which mean “a separated place". Being that apartments are 'separate' areas of a larger building, it makes sense. Incidentally, its only called an apartment if the person living in it is a tenant. If the person living in it owns the apartment, it's known as a condominium. By the way, thanks for another cool video Mr Oxhorn. Had a tiring day at work and its nice to chillout with my feet up while discovering more about Fallout lore. Especially considering I'm too tired to bother playing. :)

The word Apartment derives from the French appartement. This word was from the Italian appartimento, with the Italian root appartare, meaning "to separate, to distinguish, to set apart". Italy took this word from the Latin root partem (of the form ad + pars), which means "a piece, a part". Other english words from this root are part, partial, apart, and even parse (for splitting a file into its pieces). An appartement came to be called so because it has individual/private rooms for different people, on the same floor. These rooms were, of course, apart. In Britain, apartments are called "flats", as everyone knows. The word flat originated from the Germanic flet, which means "flat, level, ground". It was used to mean an inner room in a house. JRR Tolkien uses the word in his Fellowship of the Ring thus: “As he climbed slowly up Frodo passed many flets: some on one side, some on another, and some set about the bole of the tree, so that the ladder passed through them.” (Frodo in Lothlorien). This word traveled first to Scotland, where its meaning changed from an inner house room to a single storey house - no levels, just flat. Britain adopted this usage for what is a living complex - our colloquial flats or apartments. Britain still uses the word apartments when referring to an individual's suite or set of rooms in a large mansion or a stately residence. For example, Prince William and Kate Middleton live in their apartments in Kensington Palace. When the British left America, America used a lot of British words and apartments were still called flats, initially. The first apartment building in America came up in Boston in the mid 19th century, and were advertised as 'French flats'. This was around the same time that the appartement form of residence was getting hugely popular in Paris. Americans were influenced by the French culture at this point and started using the English equivalent for the French term, "apartment".

I feel like Bethesda should’ve marked all places but that completely disregards the idea of exploration so I’m stuck on my opinion

My favourite minor location in fallout 4 is Chestnut Hillock Reservoir. It has a really moving backstory! I hope it will get covered soon! Keep up the good work Ox! :)

Yes! This kinda of videos are great! It's always nice to hear about some small secret places and maybe a backstory to them. I think one of my favs is that water station close to the lake, showing level of contamination of water. I stumbled there once and can't really remember the name... And on the other hand I'd love to hear more about fallout New Vegas! There are some crazy places to find and that is without wild waistlande perk

I love your videos man, I can see you put so much effort and time into each video! And the lore of fallout is great and having you "reading" It is so calming and always cheers me up!
