I appreciate you having empathy for people working in slaughterhouses. I got into a terrible discussion on one vegan Facebook page where these self-righteous idiots were saying things like, "I would STARVE before murdering an innocent animal" even though they probably have no idea what it's like to be hungry, let alone starve.

Turtle man Aka the turtleinatorrrr lolololol derrrr this comment HAS to be trolling. you CANNOT be serious ??? 1. coming from a person raised poor who also has had an eating disorder for 7+ years, starving by mentally-ill choice & starving because you can’t afford enough food are COMPLETELY different things 2. you really think the majority of women who become vegan are bulimic/recovering bulimics??? just because there ARE recovering bulimics who become vegan, or people who have become “vegan” out of orthorexic habits or became vegan during an eating disorder then recovered and stayed vegan, etc., does not at all mean they hold the majority of who is vegan lol. sorry but this is just an outlandish assumption 3. where did the above commenter state that the people they were talking about were girls? your comment makes no sense.

I don't know what I'd do. I have some stroooonng suicidal tendencies, but I've never been truly starving so I can't say I know what it would be like. It's the same logic that I think applies to the conditions animals are kept in. It might not sound that bad on the surface. I'm not that emotionally impacted by knowing about or even seeing the conditions, because I haven't been in them. People just need to be more understanding and recognize that even if someone's suffering or desperation seems minimal, it can actually be very significant. All you need to know in order to care is that the slaughterhouse workers DO suffer and are often in bad situations, that animals DO suffer, that it IS hard to come to terms with the immoral nature of your actions... If everyone on every side of this situation could be more understanding and open-minded, I bet we'd make progress a lot faster.

Miss Mermade raising with love and killing don't belong in the same sentence. What is the difference between animals and humans anyway? Intelligence? Then by that standard, killing a foetus is fine because it's intelligence is lower than any breed of livestock, right?
@missmermade9331
@missmermade9331 6 жыл бұрын
L8IRUSI You are kind of closeminded to compare a fetus to a cow or other livestock... you have to measure the potential. A full developed human (a fetus in the future) is more intelligent than livestock. If someone aborts their daughter in the womb and she would have grown up to be a doctor or president or a nobel price winner that potential is being taken away from her and the world. A cow on the other hand doesn't have that kind of potential (it's a cow, duh...). If you are not slaughtering animals in a cruel way (looking at you Islam...) they are not feeling anything when their lives are ended. There is no pain involved for the livestock.

"You do you, Boo. You go for that Kale!" - this aggravated me out of all proportion for some reason. The condescension, perhaps? Also the statement that "Look, nobody cares that you're vegan!" is patently false. Clearly big business cares, especially in Australia where apparently there's the greatest uptake of veganism per capita. Also - nice abdication of responsibility there. @@CorinnaAtHome Meat eaters tend to be deficient in lots of things, but vitamin B12 is not one of them. I am a medical student. It's very easy to get enough B12 from animal sources and deficiency develops over a matter of years, so only long-time vegans tend to develop it. However, the most common cause of B12 deficiency is pernicious anemia, which is a genetic autoimmune disorder that causes people to be unable to absorb B12, regardless of diet. They need to take a specific kind of supplement that bypasses their GI tract or B12 injections.

You know who talks more about veganism and vegan diets and nutrients and animals? Non vegans when taking to vegans. On an average week, veganism, diet, nutrients, etc... conversations are brought up or talked about by me less than 2 or 3 times. Some weeks, not at all. Yet if the fact that you're vegan comes up, everyone else all of a sudden want to go on and on about how bad it is, where do you get your X, Y, Z, how animals are meant to be eaten and how the human body is meant to eat meat. And our favorite question, "don't you miss bacon?" I feel like more non vegans talk more about veganism than vegan do. Argument... debunked.

I like how UV isn't putting veganism and vegans on a pedestal in terms of health, but explains veganism as a choice that's simply the most lucrative for the animals and this planet in the 21st century. Veganism isn't the best and natural and life-saving decision in terms of diet as how it's like to be promoted, but rather a measurement you take, that includes restriction in your diet to reduce suffering of living sentient beings. Veganism or not is really not as black and white as it's usually depicted, it's not good or evil, healthy or not. It's important to be critical and actually think, no matter which position and it always depends on the person themselves. UV helped me into turning a vegan, so you doing great Swayze :D you're doing a lot of good by spreading veganism in such a calm manner which doesn't alienate veganism but makes it into a normal choice, at least that's how it was for me.

Dumb comment. Nothing wrong with being proud of your nationality or ethnicity. It's like being proud of your brother or sister for something they've done. If you care about people, you will be proud about what they accomplish. I care about my nationality and ethnicity, therefore I am more proud of what they accomplish over what people of other groups do.

She is pro human life. Clearly, if you eat anything that once lived, you can not consider yourself pro-life, right? Comparing the intelligence/sentience of a human being to a cow, in terms of them being comparable is pretty difficult based on empirical criteria. And if all animals are sacred, why do you not advocate wild life preserves where all meat eating animals are separated from herbivores or each other? Is a hermit crab's life as valuable as that of a Gorilla? Is it more valuable than a redwood? The ethics argument is one I respect, if it is applied consistently, and is limited to the individual who chooses to live by a dietary criteria. But your above comment just leaves you open to mockery.

INCLUDING PLANTS? How do you know for sure that plants don't feel pain and suffer in some way that's different from our nervous system? Then compare the ratio of individual plants to animals used for food. MILLIONS TO ONE. Science has shown that plants communicate with each other in ways we never fathomed or considered previously. I say, vegetarians and vegans are the real monsters. They kill and eat millions more life forms than us meat eaters.

So... you like "facts". Great, here's a few for ya... FACT: Vegans need supplements daily to make up for what they don't get when giving up meat and diary. FACT: It has been discovered that plants communicate with each other in ways we never considered previously. FACT: The ratio of plants murdered for food compared to animals is BILLIONS TO ONE. FACT: Plants and nuts do not provide more or even close to the same amount of protein than non-vegan diet choices. FACT: Plant eating animals have longer digestive tracts that allow them to eat plants - humans don't have that luxury. FACT: Humans are naturally omnivores and function best eating a combination of animals and plants. FACT: Eating meat enlarged our brains and allowed us to evolve into the species we are today FACT: Our bodies have a harder time making essential fatty acids from plants that we get from meat. FACT: Cancer rates between Vegans and meat eaters are equal. FACT: Faux butter is very unhealthy and contain some of the worst oils to eat. FACT: A vegan diet is more expensive that a normal human diet. FACT: Not eating meat is not healthier than eating meat - vegans tend to cut other things from their diets also. FACT: Cholesterol and Saturated fats are not harmful as previously thought and are in fact essential for us. FACT: Vegan diets are NOT the only diet to reverse heart disease - only 3 very flawed studies have been done for this. FACT: The China Study was contradicted by other studies which are of a much higher methodological quality. FACT: Animal protein diet leads to health benefits including weight loss FACT: Animal protein diet leads to health benefits including improved bone health. FACT: Animal protein diet leads to health benefits including lower blood pressure. FACT: Animal protein diet leads to health benefits including reduced symptoms of diabetes. FACT: Our bodies are well adapted to meat consumption making full use of the nutrients found in meat. FACT: Unprocessed red meat isn't associated with heart disease or diabetes. FACT: Unprocessed red meat is only very weakly linked to cancer in men, but not women. FACT: Studies showing that vegans are healthier, are plagued with the healthy user bias (they don't factor other choices) FACT: Related to above, studies that control for health consciousness show no effect at all. FACT: Proper comparisons of low-carb to a low-fat vegan diet showed that the low-carb diet was much healthier. FACT: There is very little difference compared to a "typical diabetes diet" that includes animal foods to vegan diets. FACT: A vegan diet causes more "appalling" smelling farts than a diet that consists of meat. FACT: There are a total of 0 cultures that have thrived by subsisting off of Vegan/Vegetarian diets... ZERO. FACT: Vegan diets causes issues such as fatigue, inflammation problems, acne, gassy bloating, and WEIGHT GAIN. FACT: Vegan diets can increase toxicity in your body because of a lack of quality proteins consumed. FACT: A vegan diet decreases essential "digestive juices" FACT: A big danger of a vegan diet is that it takes time to see the negative effects of this eating disorder. FACT: Soy protein is very hard for the human body to digest and can actually inhibit digestion of other foods. FACT: Too many nuts are hard to break down and contain enzyme inhibitors that blocks consumption of minerals. FACT: 99% of vegans will look at these scientifically proven facts and convince themselves that each fact isn't true.

Bawbster1 actually vegans really only need B12, which comes from bacteria, not animals. It's found in dirt and in the past when we weren't so clean and sterilizing everything and ate things right from the dirt we got it. The only way meat eaters get B12 now is if the animals you eat are eating grass and have exposure to the dirt, or are given B12 supplements if they are factory farmed and grain fed, which is most of the meat that is consumed.

He was vegan, but was advised to cut out ALL carbs/sugars (grains, beans, most fruit, and a lot of veggies) when he was diagnosed. We did a lot of research, and understood why, so he is trying his best to eat a paleo-vegan diet but has lost WAY too much weight. He's recently started eating animals a couple times a week, but it sucks. (The meat eating, and his whole diet really, plus the fact that we now cook separate meals). I'd love for UV to address this.

Lumping Paul Joseph Watson and Steven Crowder in with Dave Rubin is very incorrect. PJW and Crowder have always been conservative. Rubin used to be on Young Turks. The fact is, the left has gotten really bad with the constant identity politics and arguments that are not based in fact, just feeling. Rubin became more of a left leaning libertarian when he saw that. It's not correct to assert that he is just secretly lying about his views and is a full on conservative. You forget that Rubin supported Bernie through the presidential election. I do agree though as a host he doesn't do a very good job challenging his guests views, and he needs to have more left leaning guests on(partly this is because left wing political figures refuse his offers to come on).

I haven't watched the complete video but I'm assuming she was talking about the different types of vitamin A. Vitamin A you get from animals doesn't have to be converted while plant vitamin A does. "Plant sources contain vitamin A in the form of carotenoids which have to be converted during digestion into retinol before the body can use it. Carotenoids are the pigments that give plants their green colour and some fruits and vegetables their red or orange colour"
@garethbaus5471

It is virtually impossible to overdose on vitamin A by consuming precursors like beta carotene, one of the benefits of humans needing to convert beta carotene into useable vitamin A is that you pretty much convert enough of it into it's usable form to cause toxicity.

I'm not even a vegan and I thought Roaming's video was poor, and I tend to agree with her on most issues. It was logically inconsistent and it seemed like she was straw-manning veganism. The whole "you don't shut up about being vegan" argument is probably more common than ACTUAL vegans who don't shut up about being vegan. Roaming pretending not to understand supply and demand with regards to meat industry/meat consumers was pretty cringy, too. Overall, I just don't see how it's useful or productive to bash veganism as a whole, hoping the trend dies off soon; this kind of passive-aggressively hostile approach just inhibits actual discussion.

7:20 - I quite like the anti-SJW type channels, but whenever they get to ethics they expose a huge double standard in their reasoning. They berate those who use virtue signalling, while being blatantly guilty of it themselves. They make a strong case against post-modern moral and cultural relativism when it comes to abortion or certain religious practices, but throw that value out the window if the reasoning leads them to a place they find inconvenient. It's a shame. The movement could be so much better

I think a bit of her feelings are unconcious resentment. I was jealous of one of my friends who went vegan when I was working toward it, and it bothered me a lot. it was so easy for her, and I wish I could do that because I was mostly aware at the time that eating animal products was wrong, but I didn't have the self-control at the time because I wasn't as educated on all of the real issues with it. Once I learned more about it, it put me off animal products and I felt much better emotionally when leaving them out of my life. She should try going vegan for a little while.

Does she mean she's a libertarian by saying she's a classical liberal? That's how we use the expression where I live. And she says she likes free markets. However... that just makes the part about meat eaters not being responsible for the animals suffering stupid. Just like you said, UV, meat eaters create a demand and are therefore responsible. I found your channel recently and I love it. I’ve been eating less meat the past year because the thought of it had been repulsing me, but I think I’ve realized now that repulsion is stemming from my own subconscious guilt of eating animals. I don’t want to be part of it anymore. I used to be a “proud meat eater”, I was a hypocrite and claimed to love animals while still living with the mindset that “Well... we just NEED meat. Regarding what you said about pride, being proud of something isn't always about accomplishment. People can use the word "pride" differently. In RM's case, I think she means that she's confident in the fact that she's a meat-eater, that she has no qualms about it, and will proudly proclaim it to anyone. This is the same kind of pride that people can have in their heritage, religion, culture, sexuality, and so on. These people aren't afraid of where/how they were born, the beliefs they hold, the history they have, so they have pride in that sense. You can argue that people shouldn't have pride in those sorts of things, and should be proud about personal achievement, but many people view it differently.

This video raised a lot of intelligent points that I really appreciated. I do have to say from my standpoint, regarding abortion, is that I really don't think there's any excuses to have an abortion. I feel like if you aren't prepared to have a child you shouldn't have reproductive sex. I know there's a bunch of scientific points to back up non sentience of fetuses but I can't bring myself no matter how hard I try to feel comfortable with abortion. Every time I hear pro-choice ideas I always end up thinking, Thank God you weren't aborted so you can have these intellectual thoughts. idk.

I think she's still trying to find her legs in the anti-sjw community and shitting on veganism is a good way to help her find her place there. I used to really like the anti-sjw/skeptic community on KZbin but everything they say is getting pretty redundant now.

Can you supplement too much? If I don't know whether I get all nutrients, I'd take a multi... but can that cause harm? (New to veganism...)

I whole heartedly disagree with her first point. All the vegans I know don't actually even mention their veganism unless specifically asked about it (ie during meal times, or shopping etc) Its only because she probs only lives on social media where most vegans are dumb af and give their opinion without actually being asked. Of course if someone asks why you're vegan, you are going to push the vegan agenda on them! If by any chance this conversation you are having with them can educate or make a lasting impression on them, then why not ? but hey, we are in the second stage of truth, where people are violently opposing it. Can wait to be in 50 years time.

Do you have a b12 video? I usually have cereal with soy/almond milk almost daily to get my daily b12, but are there other sources/recommendations to get b12?

Swayze, do you have any videos on carrageenan and how some people say it causes gastrointestinal problems? It's found in a lot of store-bought non-dairy items, so I was just wondering your thoughts.
