I use to keep my camping utensils with camping gear. Used them once a year. Then I put them in my day bag so I would not need to get utensils if I bought food and ate on the go/whilst commuting and running late. Then I started to use the set far more often (and it still had a permanent home where it wasn't in my way or taking up valuable space). I got more use out of it and didn't have to get single use utensils anymore. Win-win.

Do you not have “e” electronic waste recycling spots for cables instead of putting in trash. Same for paper, no recycling? researching where things can be re-used or recycled makes the decluttering more satisfying. Today we took2 boxes of trophies, plaques etc to a trophy place. I’m pretty sure they reuse some, recycle most, otherwise they would be stuck with disposal fees. Need to go to Toronto to a site which deals with vcr tapes so they don’t go in trash. We all need to be mindful of disposal as well as what enters our home. Took me over 60 yrs to figure this out. Alice in 🇨🇦

My loft was absolutely packed out. I hadn’t been up there for over 12 years since we’d moved in. Not my domain.😂. When I went up to sort I just sobbed. My dad came down to help me. He climbed up and passed stuff down. You literally could not move. Three full bedrooms. Landing. I just stood there completely overwhelmed and crying. Dad came down out of the loft. We organised three tip runs with full cars. A massive recycle run. A massive donate run. By the end of the day I was completely drained. I sorted the Christmas stuff the next day. There is now about a thirtieth of the stuff. Two Christmas boxes. Flattened cardboard boxes from items we still own that were expensive. Two fans for summer. An emergency heater. Three empty suitcases. That’s it. Such a stressful day but so worth it. I also struggled with my memory boxes. Sat my 20 year old son down to see what he’d actually want. Three things out of about 70! So I downsized loads of that too. These things are so difficult to do, but so worth the end result. You do so well!😊

If you had not trashed it all too deep, you could check with a recycling center and/or a store that sells any kind of electrical supplies, because some companies use to recycle such cables and collect the metals that are in the wires itself. I have decided that my husband needs to watch your husband as he goes through this. My husband has extreeeeeeme sentimental bondage to trash that he will never ever use again. I respect it because I did too but had to work my way out of it. He has to find his way out of it as well and I just try to help him along the way. He did let me clean his closet. I made a pile of trash and donations and let him go through before I did anything else. He took one look at his clean closet and barely looked at my piles, just told me to get rid of it. His project for the fall is the garage. My hangup has been purses....his is tools and parts that we might need in the future. This week I am reorganizing my laundry/pantry room. 🤠 You are an amazing inspiration. Your basement is rocking.

That sounds like a really great way to approach that.Keep and organize what YOU think he should keep, then the trash and donations piles for his approval and bam! Agrees with you!
