Some players have all the talent in the world without having the mentality required to succeed in top sport. Talent alone is not enough. What ifs buy you SFA. Cornes is once again implying that North has a lot to answer for, but Collingwood could obviously see the writing on the wall when they made the decision to move him out of the club at such a young age. He is right about North being very poor at recruiting players that other clubs are happy to be rid of, which should be a red flag for potential buyers.

@ Kane Cornes you lost me when you mentioned Degoey. Lets recap, in the 2018 Prelim Degoey took Rance to the cleaners kicking 4 goals, something that hadnt been done that year. He then kicked 3 in the GF as a midfielder as many as Josh Kennedy who was a permenant forward, had his team mates done more there's a GF win. In 2022 he dominated the prelim v Geelong kicking 2 final quarter goals. Then in 2023 he dominates GWS in the preliminary before kicking 2 critical goals in the 2023 GF v Brisbane on one of the best taggers in the league in Dunkley (just look at what Dunkley did to Heeney this year). He is an out and out champion, an impact player and way more valuable than these dinkey midfielders Kane loves that run 30 metres to recieve a handball around the back and give off a 10 metre sideways kick to accumulate 35 meaningless possessions.

If you were to do it an honest sitdown survey of all the players in the league. It would be minimal on actually how many enjoy it? Even it's a fan now I don't enjoy all of what goes with footy. It's become too obsessive around performance for what that your team might win and then you get to celebrate for 10 minutes the heart and soul of the game has completely utterly changed and these kids come into the game dreaming of being a great footballer but immediately I get to a club. It's business business business business with very little regard to their mental health that well-being and so on and so on and look at Joe Danniher while he's not 25 he could've easily played for another two or three years. From the day these kids are drafted, they are bombarded with an insurmountable amount of crap shooting by the media, that would kill anyone's love for playing the game. Everything that's AFL is so over cooked, and over the top, that for some players it can turn into a drowning in diahorria stew. This can be the case for club supporters too.
