In older videos the captioners would often have difficulty understanding either cooking terms, english accents, or both, and it wound up making some of the captions outright unreadable. Really not a fan of the AI art that's started to be used in recent videos. The art looks bad and is a poor representation of what the food is actually going to look like. In today's videos Jamie's image had rice in when the final product didn't. Mike's in general was a hot mess with the tomatoes randomly having it's stalk on top, the chips being completely the wrong kind and the sauce being AI in the worst possible way. If they were actually getting a good end result I'd maybe understand but it looks terrible even when you disregard the moral debate

Honestly yeah. Especially with how much the guys have always seemed focused on both general sustainability and building a community. As creators themselves you''d have hoped they were aware of the damaging aspects of AI art and the way it's very much stealing from other artists on other to function at all. Granted that we don't know what AI they're using and how it was trained but considering there are very few, if any, visual generating AI's that are trained completely in house with the sheer scale of imagery needed... It certainly seems like a consideration and conversation that SORTED should be able to have since we've seen them rise up to similar challenges in the past.

Say you have an idea or ingredients for a dish but are just bad at plating or not very artistic in that way although you can cook good food. You can use AI to generate plating examples before you start cooking. Perhaps you have too much brown or just all monotone colors and didn't realize it so you add more colors before its too late. This is a KZbin video but imagine a chef in a small restaurant making a menu. They're probably not going to hire someone just for food presentation, so a tool like this can be very cheap and useful.

@icypalace29196 ай бұрын
People who are furious at Sorted for, purportedly, using AI art are really missing the forest for the trees. Instead of obsessing over symptoms, it'll be more worthwhile to direct our attention to the root cause - the lack of preparedness and adaptability in a changing technological and social landscape. Going around villifying individuals who are using Generative AI on a small scale to make their lives a little more convenient is a futile exercise. It's like how some "urbanists" love to blame car drivers for city sprawl and bad public transport instead of working to foster political will against irresponsible city planning. Or, instead of getting involved into their local politics, working to spread awareness and galvanizing civil society to put pressure on governments to institute more welfare measures and improve social security, people will just sit at their keyboards, push all the blame for socio-economic inequities and weak economic mobility onto private property and personal wealth and call for communist revolutions with zero appreciation for the fact that oppressive and authoritarian structures are indispensable if a communist society is to last. What's happening in all these instances is akin to trying to fight an epidemic by killing the infected instead of attacking the infection. AI is not the enemy. This is not the first time that technological progress threatens to be disruptive and creates the potential for economic upheaval. This time is not unlike when we built machines to till the soil, draw water, grind our grain, move heavy loads, do our calculations and even, build themselves. Each technological leap has brought about big changes in labour and income patterns and came fraught with employment anxieties for many people. And yet, once we got over the tough transition phase and reached a new equilibrium, technological growth, has more often than not, made an improved standard of living accessible to more people than before. What we need to understand, as people who hold the power to shape the society we will live in tomorrow, is that technological progress is desirable. However, we need to make the transition phase as painless as possible. The solution is not, therefore, to hunt down every single person who relies on AI for some tasks instead of paying a human to do it, and name and shame them. Instead, what we need to do is to create political awareness about the social and economic consequences of a rapid and reckless transition and lobby our governments to provide adequate safety nets for people who may become displaced during this new phase of automation and to institute measures to help them remain viable in a shifting market. Also, what we need is to bind the tech industry within ethical frameworks to ensure that their products and procedures do not threaten the health, safety and fundamental rights of people. We need to regulate tech the way we have done with medicine, manufacturing, transport networks and other industries. There needs to legislation and administrative infrastructure to ensure that products of the tech industry must meet certain ethical standards and prove themselves to not be in violation of human interests, before they are allowed to enter the market. These are the areas where the discourse needs to be focused on, both in politics and in civil society, instead of wasting time with self-righteous witch-hunts against individuals exploring the possibilities of a new technology. A lot of academic work is also needed across multiple disciplines like law, economics, sociology, political science, computer science as well as philosophy to help us build a knowledge base that can inform both responsible public opinion as well as effective legislation. If you really want to do something, think about how you can contribute as a citizen as well as a student/professional to building responsive and resilient systems that can address the social, economic or environmental challenges of AI integration. Moral grandstanding achieves nothing and often does more harm than good. Even if you or I made a personal choice to steer clear generative AI, it wouldn't make much difference. It's about as effective in the grand scheme of things as giving up meat or plastic straws is for global warming. On top of that, if we also went about bullying people for not going vegan or choosing a single use plastic over a more sustainable alternative or asking AI to draw them a picture, then we are the ones who are being selfish and inconsiderate.

About the copyright issue, it's still a grey area where legal precedent is lacking. Currently, you can argue convincingly that generative AI art should be classified as a derivative work and thus, if produced without first obtaining a licence from the copyright holder, it should be deemed content theft. But, you can make an equally strong case for generative AI to be considered an original work that has, simply, been influenced by older works it used as reference materials. Influences, archetypes and design ideas can't be copyrighted. Copyright protects the expression of ideas, not the ideas themselves. Referencing a copyrighted work, alone, shouldn't necessarily be considered infringement.

This might be my favorite unplanned battle so far! The boys and Kush messing around will never not be funny🤣 Also I'd love see you guys make a video (maybe a battle??) with the Ed, Izzy and the rest of the camera crew!

NO to the AI art of the dishes! It's unnecessary & contributes to the ongoing worsening of AI's unwanted presence in creative spaces.

Jamie laughing like a giddy mad scientist made my whole day! I love these guys so much!

Jamie giggling while cutting his creation into discs was the best haha

I love you guys but I think using AI for the previews of the dishes is kinda annoying - you could pay an artist to make an actual artist's rendition of the dish, which would probably look less faintly horrific! I just think there are artists out there that would appreciate the work, and the process of making a described dish come to life.

Well said, Also if they dont have the budget to pay artists a fair wage- the lack of the image is just fine too.....

This one goes straight on my favourite episodes list, together with the first poker face challenge (that one made me start watching the channel). Lovely episode, and Jamie's giggling noises are just a source of joy. That was also one of the most epic things made on the channel.

I'm an artist for a living and I'd literally rather do paintings for you for free than see that soulless AI art again hahaha

"And after he stopped laughing..." In case you were wondering when i lost my bearing and laughed so much that after I'd stopped I had to rewind a bit

If Sorted continues to use AI images I expect a great deal of their artist/arts supporting fans to start unsubscribing. Shame to see.

No one is going to unsubscribe because of AI images 😂😂

super disappointing to see you using AI generated images for the cutaways.

I did enjoy the video but i really hope that wasn't ai art at the start of the video because it looked suspiciously like it was. Really hope this doesnt become a trend as i love this channel and have for many years

Couple of ideas, the no heat battle, make them use techniques like quick cures and pickels, cooking time limited pass it on, have a timer with say 10 minutes on the clock and that's all the combined cooking time they have (preheating pans not included) and a "U turn/tangent" challenge, have them start cooking a dish theme or cuisine, then half way through throw them the curveball of completely changing the theme/style, could even work in a pass it on, have each person spin a wheel at the beginning of their turn to pick a random cuisine for the finished dish and see where it ends up!

Really, really don't like those AI illustrations. I'd rather just see the end product!

Both dishes were beautuful! Very colorful! Loved how Kush TRIED to help Jamie with the bread and Jamie said "NO!" and threw it back to him- THEN Kush sneaking away with some beef..LOL
