You have really made me look different at knitting. Instead of only focusing on finishing a project and the result, im more mindful of all the steps included. If I have to unravel it feels more like part of the process forward instead of a set back. It makes me enjoy knitting a lot more. ❤

Oh thank you! It fits a lot better now too! If you don’t currently have anything in your closet, you can always try thrifting. It’s a great way to get quality yarn at a fraction of the price :)

I've always found unravelling to be so dispiriting but living with the mistake is even more stressful. So watching you calmly start over whenever you need to helps me see that it's part of the process instead of something to be feared.

Well I’m so glad to help in any way :) What helped me change my attitude about unravelling was changing my perspective. Unravelling might feel like you’re taking a step backwards, but try to view it as part of the process :) Thanks for commenting!

I think you should let loose once in a while to embrace mistakes. There is no need to put so much pressure upon yourself. Eventually you'll come to hate knitting if you always have so much anxiety like this.

Though you view it as pressure, I view it as growth and attention to detail. My errors are a way for me to learn. Thank you for the comment though. I appreciate all the feedback :)

This was a really satisfying video to watch. It seems the overall knitting community has a “embrace your mistakes” mantra, which is great. However, there’s something to be said about identifying areas of improvement and actively working towards those improvements. While it’s not always enjoyable or fast, refocussing on to your wants and needs always wins out in the end. With that said, maybe I’ll rip out this fingering weight sweater I’ve had languishing for months.

I thought it turned out beautiful! I don't think there's anything wrong with unraveling something multiple times if you're not happy with it! When you put so much time into something, wanting it to turn out as close to how you imagine it is fine and a part of the artistic process. I'm thinking of unraveling a half-finished sweater I began a few weeks ago because I don't like how it's fitting. I don't see this as time wasted. I'd rather make a piece I'd want to wear all the time and not something I'll hide away because I didn't like the way it turned out. All this is to say, keep doing your process exactly as you wish if it's what gets you the product you like! :D

It looks so good! Kudos to you for having the patience to unravel so many times and still finish out the sweater, i think around the point you realized the sweater was waaaaaay too big would be about when i tapped out ':D your tension is really good btw, i think part of what makes your sweaters/garments look so good is your attention to that and how evenly you knit. congrats on the new sweater!!!

Oh thanks so much! Yes, I felt pretty drained at that point but what kept me going was my determination to make use of the yarn. I couldn’t let it go to waste after putting so much time and effort into unravelling it. Thanks so much for the comment :)

I'm like you in that I will unravel a project to get it right. If it's not right, I won't want to wear it, and the whole endeavor become a waste of time. I like your cuffs. I believe the wider ones make for good pictures but are impractical otherwise. I learned a lot about ways to construct a better fitting item. Thank you for the wonderful video. I hope your are enjoying fall!

Your finished sweater is very nice. In order to get the hem to look like it does in the inspiration photos try knitting your ribbing in the same size needles as the body. This will not cinch in the bottom as much.
@ToTheKnitPoint
@ToTheKnitPoint 8 ай бұрын
Thanks so much! I’m currently fixing the cinching problem right now. I did an increase row before ribbing, but this time I increased by a lot more stitches than my previous. I’m only a few rows in, but I can see it’s already making a difference. Thank you for the suggestion though!

I loveee your videos! I have a very different knitting process, so it’s always so nice to see someone do things differently and so meticulously! ❤️ I was wondering, do you ever like to follow knitting patterns? or is it just part of your creative process to make a garment from scratch?
@ToTheKnitPoint
@ToTheKnitPoint 8 ай бұрын
That’s a great question. I do prefer making my own patterns as I find it challenging and stimulating. I’m not the best at it, but it’s still very satisfying to me. I also like the idea that a piece feels more uniquely mine when I create my own patterns. They are not ‘original designs’ or anything like that, but the fact that I make the intention to customize something to my liking gives it a special feel that cannot be replaced. Occasionally I do use patterns. I think they are a great way to learn something new, instead of always trying to figure things out on my own. And they make the knitting process feel more effortless. Thanks so much for the question. I hope this answers it! :)

@@ToTheKnitPoint I noticed that after I posted. :) Normally when I unravel, I go for as fewer balls as possible. Is there a benefit to using smaller balls?
@ToTheKnitPoint
@ToTheKnitPoint 8 ай бұрын
@@Enig_Mata The only reason why I end up with so many smaller balls of yarn is because I prefer to wind smaller hanks. Smaller hanks help reduce the chances of tangling. Plus it’s a lot easier/quicker to unravel a smaller tangled hank, versus a larger one. - It’s more of a precaution on my part. I hope this answers your question.

Love the sweater and it's a really good use of an existing garment you had but weren't wearing so much. Sometimes as a knitter i am always looking at buying new yarn, when i should try to use what i already have and love. Lovely video as always, and i appreciate the care you take to document the whole process. Even bits where you question yourself. Enjoy your knitting!

Why doesn't anybody unreveling like me, using the winder ? Like, sticking the end in the winder and rolling to unravel. So much easier.
