What we need is a collaborative comic, created by independent creators (male and female), that is specifically about female characters - just to prove that quality comes from good writing. Not the gender/sexuality of the creator or a cause.
@t1mburt0nsdandruff
@t1mburt0nsdandruff Жыл бұрын
I get annoyed when tumblr and twitter users say “Male authors always sexualize female characters” when there’s actual good male authors that write good female characters. Those same people praise (some) female authors that write male characters as “dark and mysterious, and overly masculine” when they have no personality and are just there for women to drool over. There are good female authors that write good male characters. People need to learn that it’s not the gender; it’s the quality of writing.
@DarkSpyro707
@DarkSpyro707 Жыл бұрын
We wouldn't have to go that far just to prove that point, literally just look at manga and the point has been proven for DECADES. Women can write great stories and fantastic characters too, they're not some creatively bankrupt species. Just that the manga industry isnt corrupted to core of hiring their friends and family and gatekeeping anyone who doesn't share their politics and world view.
@zionleach3001
@zionleach3001 8 ай бұрын
@@t1mburt0nsdandruff Exactly. I see a lot of videos saying how men can't write women very well. But there are exceptions, there's simply too many BAD writers that the higher ups can't get rid of. Trese a Philippine comic released in manga like chapters has a male writer and artist. But with an interesting female protagonist.

"I'm not naive". Wow, Marvle, hire a proofreader. Edit: yes it is actually "naïve" but the dialogue is so stilted and the context makes you think she's supposed to say "native". Either way. This is way you have alpha readers, let alone beta readers and proofreaders. 2nd edit: 2:40 there actually was a famous female WWII agent with a prosthetic leg. 3rd edit: so Captain America wanders around occupied Marseilles with a star-and-stripe shield poking out of her shopping bag. They don’t care about writing a good story. They want to self insert themselves into superheroes (even change their race to look like them) and use them as a mouthpiece for their political agenda. You know that Lois Lane comic that came out? The author made her a small town girl, (when she literally poked fun at Clark and called him Smallville because he was a small town boy) and self inserted herself onto Lois, race change and all. I’m not joking when I tell you that she said that Lois was most likely Asian American because of her hair color. The woman was Asian American herself and said that Lois had to be Asian American because she had black hair. Marvel and DC should be kissing their jobs goodbye because they’re letting morons become writers

8:45 White Tiger (hispanic); I don't know the name of the Korean woman in the Iron Patriot armor or the Indian woman; Spider-Woman; Mocking Bird in black, white, and yellow; Sharon Carter in white; and Peggy Carter in green (yes, they gave her super soldier stuff so she's over 100).

You've actually recommended a half-dozen really fun manga series since I started watching your vids... Also, I ABSOLUTELY believe that a black one-legged virago would "blend in" wandering around Vichy France. 100%. No suspension of disbelief required, I swear! XD (It really feels like these people are either completely ignorant or thoroughly malicious in their lies about the past)

Oh dude you are a breath of fresh air! The amount of arguments I have gotten into with girls (who are supposedly into comics, but not really) who absolutely lap this dogrel shite up and hold it up as championing women rather than the shallow, desperate marketing plow that it is staggers me. Looking forward to exploring your channel and seeing what you actually like lol. All the best!

How is this empowering?? The entire plot of these female empowerment comics are all “men bad, women good” and they don’t even train or work on themselves, all they get is a sad backstory and everything they do is excused. Original Mulan was a better female empowerment story than this, mainly because she didn’t join the war for feminism, she joined so her father wouldn’t die. Why can’t we have female characters like Mulan anymore?

@@t1mburt0nsdandruff I'd say that the situation is worse than that really. Not only is there a lack of character development as you alluded to in your post, but with very little exception they are less than paper thin as characters as well. The only exception to that I am able to think of atm is the opening run, IE before the universe reset/Dr Doom as God storyline event, of Ms Marvel. In so much that they take time to not only establish her ethnicity (which for most of these types of things would be the entirety of her character) but spent the time with showcasing their personality, desires and such. It's actually an example of a character getting worse and more of a stereotype since they debut, which is the inverse of what used to happen. I could go on, but I am not really in a position to type at the moment (on mobile) and to honest we're just going to be agreeing with one another.

With all the good female creators in comics, why does Marvel give the reigns over to a bunch of hacks for their Women in Comics books? I guess because they don't care? Anyway... It's a good thing Nazis in that universe Captain Carter are in don't hate black people! Or carry guns. That must be one of those universes where the Nazis are all warm and fuzzy. Or the writer had no idea what Nazis were all about. Furry! Ass Woman....I almost cried laughing! It's a good thing that all of the female heroes that writer knew about were having a party down the street when the robots attacked. That She-Hulk story seemed like it was written by a five-year-old. "You're going down." "No, you!" Just...Sad. Gotta love Marvel!

The Daughters of Liberty are actually a cool team, the origin behind it and the different iterations of the members throughout its years. I think the first time I saw them was in a CPT America comic where they help Steve Rogers break out of prison and clear his name afterwards.

Remember when female characters were cool because of their actions and not because they say they are cool? Remember when they had interesting flaws, personalities and powers they worked their butts to earn instead of just having them?

I like the idea of an anthology of stories of varying style and seriousness. But the stories have to not be rеtardеd for it work well, I think. Then again, the creators of this one clearly disagree and their book is published, and I never had anything published so what do I know?

I'd actually have to give the "who needs laundry when you've got mental projection" a pass. That's.....actually pretty amusing considering Emma Frost is fairly narcissistic, so even if she's just going somewhere in sweat pants and a t-shirt, she's going to mental project herself to be looking like she's dressed to the nines. I kinda find that one amusing in how petty she is about her looks. I'm also a little amused at the notion of Mystique being a mutant terrorist villain and still dealing with teenage rebelliousness from Rogue when she was acting as her mother. Not saying those were written/drawn stellar, but their concepts were amusing.

This is my best guess for why they did not use guns, closed area, or the walls, I'm not saying the writing and artists, were thinking of tinnitus and hearing damage, but if I were a person in that situation with a gun, that's why someone would be getting punched in the face, but then again this is a Marvel comic, do with that as you will

I had to rewind it yep the She-Hulk part broke me.. sometimes I check in as a former gigantic marvel and DC fan that's probably the sound of the door closing for good. as a palate cleanser I would definitely recommend the fantastic four radio series The 13 episodes that were made are awesome. Hopefully can find the one that's in stereo but the mono one isn't half-bad either. if you do find the stereo one I would recommend listening with headphones even with the poor quality there's a lot of things you pick up on with a good pair of headphones.

Some of those were mediocre at best, some were straight up bad, but the Emma Frost one (I think that's Emma) is just straight up weird. Am I supposed to understand that Emma just doesn't clean herself up and just hangs around in her tighty whiteys and doing "mental projection" all the time? Because that's what I got from the comic... Who thought painting your character as a huge slob for no reason is a good idea?
