I’m from Florida too. Going to Arkansas is definitely worth it. Hunted with a guide in a pit not too far from the Coca Cola Woods. If you book a guided duck hunt, make sure to check a solunar calendar before booking to avoid very bright moon phases. The ducks will feed early and not want to land. Can’t complain about my first green wing teal and seeing ducks commit to decoys as cupped wings are a rare sight in FL, but that’s all I got.

Just listened to you interview on the Dr Duck podcast. I’m starting my 2nd year duck hunting this season and I’ll be doing it all on public ground this year. Don’t have a clue how to do it but where there’s a will there’s a way. These kind of hunts are what every hunter dreams of. Awesome content dude!

How does it compare to an XLT?
@btapscott86523 жыл бұрын
Rusty, love the video. I’m a new subscriber and I hope your channel grows rapidly! Would you be able to talk about how to identify “the X” versus “dead zones” in a wetland? Had an interesting hunt today where I was in a timber hole and never saw a bird but people 300 yards away killed limits on slightly bigger water. Wondering what your theories are on spot selection!

I'll use this hunt as an example. The day before we hunted the south end of the property. Didn't see that many ducks at all that day. What happened was the ducks were roosted somewhere north of us. They were using the north end of the property therefore they never made it to us. Yours could be a similar deal. Early season I try to get off the x so as to not shoot out the ducks early n the season. Now if I were a public land guy I'd for sure try to get right in the middle of them. The fact that you didn't even see ducks makes me think they just never made it to ya. Hope this helps a little!!

Do you prefer the A5 or Maxus 2 and why?

I had zero issues with either so you can't go wrong either way. Personally the Maxus 2 fits me just a little better. I'd shoulder them both and see which fits you the best. Thanks for watching!!

Rusty, these holes seem every year get bigger and bigger! From trees dying. You see the dead end limb die off from Video. Are you concerns about your timber? Is this from growing season food plots and water in woods during growing season? Not being negative just saying. All these private woods the timber all around looks bad condition and go look at old videos of this hole it’s way smaller.???
@RustyCreasey3 жыл бұрын
We've lost a hand full of trees around a couple holes for sure. Mostly from high wind and a couple have died. The only hole I water our rice in that we hunt is the gar hole and we haven't lost a single tree in it. Our overall health of the timber is great. It's the one thing I keep as a priority. The camera can be deceiving at times so unless you are in the woods it's pretty hard to tell. Also from different angles and setups the holes look bigger/or smaller. Had some bad luck at the doughnut hole and a couple of trees blew over and it was a domino affect. One tree hit another and another. This happens in a wet spring when the ground is soft. No water standing just spring rains keep it damp. Thanks for the feedback and for watching!!
