OMG setting skin cache to enabled instead of auto on my character finally made my hair work correctly. I've been struggling with this for so long. You're a lifesaver!

Thank you so much! It helped me after something messed up with my custom modeled metahuman with groom import from maya. Something was broken after i tried to import a new metahuman and i didnt get to work the groom binding again, my grooms always disappeared. After i did your trick inside the skeletal mesh, everything worked again just fine :)

Thank you so much! My groom binding is now showing the groom!! However, my groom is offset from my model, which is obviously undesired behavior.. but at least one problem down! Thanks for posting this, no way I would have known to look for this option!

@@SlySean44 I did figure this out. When you apply the binding asset it assumes you are binding to a zero transform origin. x0 y0 z0 . So when you try to reposition your groom it will offset after binding. The work around is when exporting your groom from your DCC make sure you export also the character from your DCC so that when you import to unreal engine they are at the same position .

It doesnt work.. My groom only is visible when my camera is far from it and only if I rotate the camera to see it from other view .. Also my groom its not centered like my skeletal mesh

in a completely unrelated, but still hair-ripping question: How did you manage to keep the UV color coordinates of the maps to transfer to the groom? i made an animal print in Substance just like the one you have there, but cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to make the fur imitate the patches and colors of my map to copy the ones on the mesh. in the off, heavenly chance that you did manage to figured that one out too, PLS PLS PLS give me a hint :(

This helped so much, but now I have a new issue... my groom is not matching the mesh ue5 after importing. It seems like the legs of the animal I'm working on shifted ever so slightly and makes the groom poof out like a dandelion. Anyone know what I can do?

...nvm I just exported the fbx from UE5 back into Blender... and yeah, I see what happened. Going to just re-do my fur on the new one. Ugh. Welp, I REALLY know how to apply hair now! 😅🤣🤣

well dang, even after all that it's still poofing up like a dandelion. ugh... I even tried the collision settings and still notta.

Welp... I *think* I fixed it... but I could be wrong. Apparently the collision projection being toggled was throwing fur all over, unchecked it and BOOM... fur laid over the cat perfectly. No idea how that's going to mess with me later having that unchecked on fur, but whatever... the fur works right now.
