#unrealengine5 Ik rig tutorial. Will show you how to retarget #mixamo animations to #metahumans . You can use same workflow to retarget any other animations to your MetaHuman using IK rig.

Just jumped back into UE and this was a very nice video showing some of the new features I didn't know about in 5.1. Was searching for something on how to create a control rig for a character and the new features in control rig. I have been having a little trouble following the course unreal engine did on the topic. Thanks for making this video.

Great resource and Kudos to all the effort put into for everyone. Worked flawlessly in 5.1 but retargeting wasn't that perfect in 5.2

Hey thank you. Yea someone mention in Discord that there are some issue in 5.2. Will try to do some retargeting next week and see if I run into any problems. He mention in Discord that disabling IK retargeting solve problems for him.

Great tutorial! I'm having trouble importing textures into Unreal when using other Mixamo characters. The materials are imported but without the textures. Any tips?

Fantastic video Maris! I only wish I had found this video 48 hours ago before I retargeted my characters lol. Your method is much faster. What does it mean Add Goal to New Chain? I selected No Goal? Now that I've retargeted the MetaHuman is it to late to add these solvers? This seems like a lot of work just to be able to keyframe the MetaHumans but I guess adding solvers is the only solution without the control rig?

Hi! Sorry, I'm still at sad side of YT algorithm lol New retargeting is awesome, you set it up once and then can retarget from any character to any character. In my video I'm setting IK after I have mapped bones. You can add them at any time and they just will improve retargeting since you set bone influence.

In matching the bones and creating chains, my Mixamo doesn't have a Root. When I go to solver it warns Missing Root. I'm using 5.3

hello i don t hav root like u in my new ik rig im on the 5.1 I can't add a new root I have hips first and I can't add above the hips so below rightclavicle I have root hips hips and none and the d line below I put Head neck headtop_end and none ... is it normal that I can't add root above Hips like you do on the video?

its working without the same schema its cool and i want to know something please i hav one othe ik rig than other character but he have only 3 spine not 5 how i can put 2 more spine in the ik rig ?

For some reason the blender thing doesn’t work for me. When I try to launch from the folder, nothing happens. When I open my current version of blender I have no mixamo add-on available. Sucks bc I feel like I’m so close lol.

You can add plugin from git: github.com/enziop/mixamo_converter/tree/blender28 You just need to play with settings then

Hi I''m new beginner~ I have a question! When I fallow the add new chain, there is no rout in mixamo. So I just skeep that. is it ok? and do you know why there is no rout?

You need to add root bone using blender. Without root bone you will have animation issues.

In 16:00, when i select the metahuman there is a woman body not man, and this makes some issues can someone help me?

Custom Blender Version it's not free, i try to download it for free but unable to downlad, any idea?

Select blender version (there are two Eather will work), if you want for free just put 0 as amount of money and press I want. Just tested, still able to download and works fine.

any idea why my crouch animations are floating after retargeting to metahuman?

it looks like the animation is locked at the hips because the hips is the only part staying in place

@@madebyINTs You probably have skipped some steps. My best guess is root bone is not set to globally scaled. You can always join my discord, will be easier to help there.

Good tutorial, but dang I hate this shit, why is this so complicated, there are so many people looking for an easy workflow why not make a more straightforward way to do this than the need to jump a zillion loops.

I’m sure automated process is not that far, but this is as best as it’s ever been 😁 do once and then can reuse it with any skeleton
