You can have the bones showing so you can click on them physically instead of in the hierarchy, just click the Character --> Bones --> All Hierarchy, it makes it a lot easier to edit

mind blown coming from unity where this is a couple hundred dollars worth of plugins or a few months of learning 3rd party software. Amazing this is in engine... worth the switch alone

It was a helpful video but I was looking to animate one half of a character using one animation and the other half using another, such as running and shooting a gun. Please make a tutorial on this

Hey thanks so much for your comment! So for using animations on different sections of a character is just by using slot groups and montages and i have a video going over just that! If that doesn't help let me know and I can make a follow up video on anything I missed :) Link to slots and montages tutorial - kzbin.info/www/bejne/q4DMinihgbOIqtE

How can I extend the playback time of a premade animation such as walking? I thought about copying and pasting the keys to make it longer but I am not seeing the keys to the original animation to do that.
@ArtofficialEntertainment Жыл бұрын
To extend a walk animations cycle the easiest way is to make a new montage by right clicking in your content browser and create new montage, then drag the walk cycle animation into the blank animation data section and just repeat until you get the length you want. This will only work though if your animation fully cycles. Meaning it starts and ends in the same position. Otherwise you would need to do some key frame editing inside of something like blender to ensure that you have the full cycle smoothed out.

@@ArtofficialEntertainment yeah, that’s what I had to do unfortunately but it works perfect now.

When u rotated the arm, the idle animation also plays on that arm with updated rotation..is it possible to delete all the animations on the arm? I have an animation from mixamo and i want all the animations to be deleted on left arm and add my my own keys to it but the small animations messes up things. any solution?

To completely remove a bone groups animation track the best way would be to export the animation into an FBX and remove the keyframes inside something like blender. Now with that being said that doesn't mean it's not possible through unreal also just a bit dirtier and requires some tricks. First open up an animation and scrub through until you get the arm starting position as close to a nice starting point as you can get and go to create > animation and select from current pose. Then from there you can add animation data to that arm in the new animation. Then in the animation blueprint use a layered blend per bone and set the bone index to the clavicle, and blend the animation you made from the pose as the blend and the normal animation with all the bone data set to the base. This way it will blend the animation data of the new arm track with the original animation. Now with all that said... Id recommend just tossing it into blender and remove the keys and use the powerful IK and curve animation system to make a really smooth new arm track. This way there's no complex blending and runs fluid together.

@@ArtofficialEntertainment Can you make a video about exporting an animation from Unreal to Blender, modifying it and then importing back into unreal? Really confused on how to do it, ive seen someone use the Mr Mannequinn template

So… my character’s feet touch the ground when standing, but when I go into crouch his feet are NOT touching the ground anymore… will this work for that? Should I select the Main root at the top, and pull the character to the ground, then save?
@ArtofficialEntertainment Жыл бұрын
Possibly but this issue could also stem from your capsule collision around your character. Id check the crouch animation and see if the root bone is moving properly - If not then make any adjustments necessary and also check the capsules half height during crouch.
