Such a shame to see UT 2014 all but abandoned by Epic. Unreal is easily one of my favourite franchises of all time and knowing that Epic don’t even have the courtesy to confirm its death just makes me upset.

Unreal, as far as I remember, ran on a modified version of the Quake 1 engine, which became Unreal engine. As for attempts at putting storyline into the Tournament games, all I can say is: lol

In some of the other UT2004 assault maps there's also mention of a corporation war involving the Liandri, Axon and Izanagi corporations

IIRC You fight the corporations in Unreal 2 (IIRC Axon is an ally) but there is no mention of a Jumpship

Surprisingly you read these comments on old videos. So two questions: -You probably saw the secret level episode, thoughts? -I always thought if you removed the references to a few named corporations in the unreal universe and replaced the skaarj that U2 would have nothing to do with unreal. Assuming gameplay issues were fixed and having at least a couple of weapons from the standard roster are in (I don't think anything but the sniper rifle and the charge up pistol is in this game, no flak cannon, no multi-shot rocket launcher, no shock rifle, none of the iconic and familiar guns are here. For the pistol you can argue is not the same as the dispersion pistol since it cannot be upgraded), do you think it'd be a better decision for the story if not only Aida was the main character but she's rewritten to be the prisoner from the first unreal game?

Unreal Tournament (UT99) and UT 2004 really have nothing to do with a silly story but are actually about online multiplayer PvP and mostly Team PvP games with thousands of user-made custom maps and mods (and in its time hundreds of privately owned servers available to the general public for people to play on) and clan matches like this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nKDcpKFpq7WUipo No one really cared about the silly background stories.
