Alan bold describes Autumn in a negative light, illustrating that it is an 'experienced robber' of the 'green stuff', suggesting that the poet doesn't like the fact that it takes the leaves of trees. The adjective 'experienced' in the simile used in 'like an experienced robber' presents Autumn as something that regularly takes away the leaves, implying that the poet does not like this. The noun 'robber' is a personification, depicting Autumn as someone that takes the leaves that aren't really theirs. Comparatively, Billy Collins' poem is about Spring (not Autumn like the last poem). The poet describes spring with the superlative 'perfect', portraying spring as the best season. Furthermore, the poet describes the 'warm intermittent breeze', which illustrates a breeze that is soothing from the adjective 'warm'. The noun 'breeze' demonstrates that it is a light wind that isn't harsh: it is able to calm you. Through this, Collins is able to successfully illustrate that they believe spring is the best season. this was done in 5 mins, but I'm just not sure if this would be near the top of the mark scheme? (for 2017 aqa unseen)

good analysis but limited comparison, i'd guess 6/8
@edgarboekdrukker54292 жыл бұрын
@@alexj1295 Alan bold describes the sky of Autumn as being 'red with a quiet rage'. The colour 'red' and the noun 'rage' creates imagery of the Earth being angry that Autumn has arrived, 'cunningly' taking away the leaves like a 'robber'. Comparatively, the poet of 'Today' describes spring as being 'blue and white', which are colours symbolising purity (from the white) and tranquillity (from the blue). As a result, the poet of 'Today' presents Spring as calming and soothing, whilst the poet of 'Autumn' presents autumn as menacing and unforgiving of what it takes. right, if I added this, would it bump it up a bit?

On a separate note, I only managed to put 2 quotes in for my acc essay (one from extract and one from elsewhere) but I linked them together and elsewhere in the play, a bit of context (less than I'd liked) but I managed to write about 2 and a half pages on it. Is it a huge problem because I didn't use more quotes, I analysed both quotes to the best I could with the help of your videos (obviously) but even still, rushed over the conclusion and didn't have time to check over my work.
