Annette's voice is gorgeous! Wow! Hearing her mother reading her letter at the end, really just tore me up inside. The strength she had to pursue justice & find Felix. She kept all of her pain & suffering inside, to fight for her daughter & the other women, before she'd allow herself to grieve. My heart goes out to her! ❤

I thought exactly the same thing but I am guessing they explained the blow to head as having maybe hit the side of the boat and the tangled scarf just a result of her struggling in the water. Still extremely frustrating as a conviction at that point would have saved lives and put that monster away so much sooner.

Who would probably get custody of her son that he clearly resented... And the corner... If it's legal to beat your wife and your in the process of doing so and she "accidentally" falls off the boat and drowns..?? How many women have died like this and it been deemed an accident? I was listening to one of these docs just yesterday where a woman had defensive wounds that were clear to just about everyone other then the medical examiner who thought it was a heart attack. Never checked her for signs of s/a even though found half nude, didn't care the fire chief thought the small fire was fail arson and not a accidental lit cigarette....I don't think there is more crime now. When we turn into a teen, our brains are programmed to tell us not to listen to our parents and leave the nest. This is years of evolution to stop interbreeding. Go out, find another tribe. This is also why teens listen to their peers, partner this with a massive dopamine rush when trying new things it's all down to brain chemistry. Make sure there is a mentor they can relate to, somebody that gives sound advice. I did this with all my kids as I was that rebellious teen with nobody to guide me. Shouting never works neither does threats. Parenting does and the saying it takes a village to raise a child is true. Don't threat though, around the age of 23 they decide parents aren't so bad because brain chemistry evens out, then they don't see you as such an idiot!

She left to take a job that was out of state for a month. She didn’t take her daughter because she was almost graduating highschool and she didn’t want to ruin that. She didn’t leave her daughter with that man she left her with a friend. That guy just took advantage of the situation. I’m not saying that she isn’t wrong for leaving her daughter because she is. Her daughter did feel abandoned when she left for a month. But she did not leave her daughter to that man she did know that they were talking her daughter told her that he stopped by but she didn’t know that there was anything going on. Her daughter didn’t tell her that she was dating him until she lifted with him. Again she shouldn’t have left her daughter she should have talked about leaving for work for a month and if her daughter would want to come with.

Depends on the mother. There are a lot of horrible mothers in the world whose abuse is just as strong as this mother’s love. We’re all individuals. Some fathers and mothers would do anything to protect their child, as they should. Some give their everything to love their offspring and help them become all that they can be. But other fathers and mothers are terrible parents, undeserving of the children they bore. They destroy them, break, damage, and abuse them. Some even kill them. Not all parents are the same. You shouldn’t make sweeping statements like the one that you made because they simply aren’t true. This mother is only proof that you can’t cover up, stop, or smother some mothers’ love. But other mothers don’t love their children at all. Just as some fathers love their children with every breath of their being, and some don’t. Being a mother doesn’t automatically make you an amazing parent, and people believing statements like yours are one of the reasons why children are often taken away from really good fathers and put with horrible mothers during custody battles. Mothers are favoured in these battles, and it’s partially because people believe that all mothers have an innate, nurturing, protective instinct, when that simply isn’t true.

Then she said she didn't know if he was a bad guy when her 16 year old daughter wanted to marry him... a 40 year old. That's not even mentioning her willingly walking out on her daughter AGAIN after she got her home and safe finally. I don't think they only happen today! You'd have to be some kind of dummy to think stuff like this hasn't ALWAYS went on throughout history! For goodness sake man, if anything it's not as bad as it used to be. It was easier to get away with stuff back then due to minimal clues and information you could uncover throughout history. We know people were definitely worse back in the biblical days, for example, it was nothing for someone to get stoned to death in public streets, easily shot in western days, no one would listen when DV went on in the early to mid 20th century. In the 70s I heard about and saw A LOT of shit go down that definitely wouldn't be tolerated today! No sir we know it was worse up until today and it is easier to catch and prosecute today. The worst thing going on these days that's horribly bad is "INDIFFERENCE"!!! That is the worst from our law enforcement, DA's, judges, coroners, etc etc etc!!! Poor Bill Vail. The trauma and fear he had lived with since childhood affected his health. It is well-known that emotional, mental and physical abuse weakens our immune system. I am sure, (his dad) the killer felt after 50 years, he'd gotten away with murder. Thankfully, he got life in prison.

Not just you at all, I'm certain there was more trouble to their mother-daughter relationship than she's letting on. She strikes me as one of those parents who didn't say no a day in her daughter's life yet gave her daughter no clue either on how to navigate reality with all its dangers.

You are so right. Even after a very bad relationship and dangerous separation from my children's father, I pushed through the courts to get him help. It was years of hard work for both him and myself, we both grew and eventually formed a good relationship so my children could then have a strong relationship with their father. If one can do it, it's so worth the effort for the children.

As a mother to two beautiful daughters, I am shocked at the response of the mother whose daughter wanted to leave Felix. Go back and try to work things out. WHAT?!?!?!?!? OH HELL NO!!!! My daughters both know to come home if their partners EVER get mean with them. I'll never insert myself into my adult children's lives by telling them what to do, but I will ALWAYS be there to protect them... Always. I could never fathom the idea of sending them back to their abusers to try to work things out. I'm not condemning the mother, as I'm not here to judge...but I do question why? Was it just the times? Because divorce was unthinkable and looked down on? I pray all of Felix's victims found peace.

Hypocritical how the comments are full of people, almost worshipping this mother😅. If this were any other case, people would have cursed the mother, for LEAVING HER DAUGHTER with a “FRIEND”. Finding the truth was the LEAST she could do, after she LEFT her child to be preyed on. Giving the house, walking away again from her daughter, even allowing your 16yo marrying a damn 40yo. I’m so happy I’ve a mum that dragged me out of an upcoming abusive marriage, after 1 time he abused me, my mum gave me a reality check. The aftermath was worse but worth it in the end. Happy and healthy.

That 90 year olds purpose was his part in this trial. As soon as he said 'greeted at the door by a 90 year old man in a wheel chair' I said to my partner he will pass very soon now he's given his whole truth and played his part and he did after 3 months. Survived 90 yrs on this planet and once his truth was told, the burden lifted and he passed away 3 months later. Perfect example of how we all have our roles to play.

Then she gives her permission for her 17 year old to marry and older man, then when they tell her to leave HER house she packs up and says ok? Sounds like this woman did everything her teenage daughter told her to. Why was the child in charge? Fight for her before she is murdered not after, ffs!
