As a former truck driver, I would watch unsolved mysteries at the truck stops diner with a couple trucker friends. Even the wait staff would stop and watch with intrigue. They even dimmed the lights in the truck stop while it played. Afterwards, they would play coast to coast am with Art Bell on the radio and have it play throughout the truck stop. Those nights when both shows would have topics on ghost and ufos it was hard for me to go back to my rig to sleep. Good times!

I agree. Regular people stumble over their words, lose their train of thought, unintentionally make weird faces at times, etc so seeing actors do the same makes it much more real.

As a lifelong viewer, I wouldn't trade the actors for better ones for anything! They make every episode feel authentic, based on reality, and engaging! I never heard a single person complain about it. Because real life people don't 'act', sometimes seem awkward, and basically speak haltingly as they figure things out. Your show is perfect as is!

I loved this show as a kid, but I think I love it more as an adult. No matter the story the show and Stack always maintained a great level of respect when retelling it. They never made a mockery of anyone or inserted their own bias. It was seriously some top tier storytelling. Edit: The story about the actor getting mistaken for the real suspect was a storyline on an episode of Mama’s Family 😂
@Pocketrocket-pj1us

Well said. This show will never die. It's way too iconic and it trailblazed, with every new episode. Just think of all the great, similar content it inspired. Off the top of my head: Cold case files American Justice Forensic Files 48 hours Mysteries Born to kill Joe Kenda's show, which I love so much, I'm blanking on the name. Lol UPDATE: Is Kenda's show, 'Homicide Hunter?' Regardless, he has such a connection to the stories, with a dry, movie Cop, sense of humor! I can never recomend that show enough! The entire channel, Investigation discoveries, or I.D. Missing and in a situation of who made who? 'America's most wanted' with Joe Walsh, who's personal connection, to being a victim, made the show extra special and personal! So, from one "Stackamaniac" to another, take care out there and all the best :) Cheers from Canada P.S. A special shoutout to Bill Curtis and Paula Zaun.

This show scarred an entire generation of kids, and I have to thank you all for that! It´s easy now to crowd source missing people or circulate a case via Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, etc. But back then, not so much. Some of these cases stuck with me so much. The Omar arsonist was particularly frightening, and still scares me. I looked for Lisa Marie Kimmels car every time my family was on a freeway. That case stuck with me so much I actually recreated her drive through Wyoming and went to the bridge. So, on behalf of all the kids that had nightmares from this amazing show, I´d like to say thank you. You absolutely made a difference, and changed the world for the better!

I watched UM faithfully when it was on TV. I often got so spooked out that I would go around the house making sure windows and doors were locked 🤣 And yet, there I'd be the next week watching it all over again.

This show is my childhood❤ The theme music instantaneously takes me back to happier times. I have seen every episode but I still love binge watching it on PlutoTV. I just can’t get enough of the nostalgia. I find myself falling asleep with the TV to Unsolved Mysteries and here it is, 2023.

Obviously “Unsolved Mysteries” needs to have an audience for the program to continue. It must be a wonderful feeling to know *how many people you’ve helped through the years.* *Thank you so much for giving these cases as much exposure as possible.* It’s both mass entertainment and a service to families, victims and communities as well. Again, thanks so much.

Early 2000s. Custom ring tones were popular and mine was the UM theme song. Heads would turn when the phone went off in public. Loved it.

Thank your for putting this together! I know you have met countless fans but I don’t thing anyone is more a fan than d. I’m 56 and I still watch full episodes on this changer because it takes me back to my young adult years that I can never get back. Watching the episodes kind of takes me there and I find it comforting to have it on while I’m just hanging around my house although I’ve seen every episode multiple times. I always wondered what John Cosgrove and Terry looked like . I wish the show would come back because I’d all the did it did.

I watched this show religiously as a kid, even though it frightened me so much; way more than any scary movie. So many segments have stuck with me 30+ years later... the kidnappings of Michaela Garecht and Angela Hammond... The Blind River killer... The I-70 killer... the reunion of Mitchell Shigemoto and James Pearson still makes me cry like a baby to watch. Nowadays there are streaming channels airing Stack-era Unsolved Mysteries episodes 24/7 and I find myself watching from time to time, weirdly not to be frightened but because I find comfort in the nostalgia.

Saying that this show is a classic is an understatement! Everyone involved with this show (creators, directors, staff, actors, actresses, fans and last, but, not, least, the late great Robert Stack who was the icing on the cake) were placed on this planet to serve their purpose, and destiny in creating and implementing this successful masterpiece that benefited mankind!
