If you have a job, start now. It'll make life so much easier when you are already in the habit before the bills become a factor. Have fun while you're young but do so while also planning for the future.

I saved my lower bills first. For instance, my cellphone is $80, and wifi is $96. Then, a $300 bill is broken up into 2 payments. So, in 2 months I've saved for 3 bills. Mortgage is divided into 10 months. Good luck

To get one month ahead: I created Sinking Funds for each bill and every time I get paid I contribute a set amount to the SF. For example < car note is $400 so I make sure I contribute $200 each time I get paid to that category , and Insurance is $70 so I contribute $35 to that each time. I don’t like to think about the entire amount for bills, but I make sure for the individual bill, I break it up in smaller amounts

Thank you for sharing your insights. I must admit that I’m just starting and it’s a bit daunting. I want it all to be like yours now and I have to be happy with the smaller changes I’m making. Maybe you could set up a ‘how to’ manual for your shop? It would help as your videos are so good 😊

Just wanted to say thank you again for giving us these tools to start our month ahead journey. I especially appreciate the different ideas in how to do so on the side. I can also add to that that I've been taking the money that I've saved from my variable expenses and putting that towards my 1 month ahead goal. So excited to see how these things turn out. Thank you again for the tutorial! I know a lot is going on right now, and there are a lot of moving parts for you, just know that you are being prayed for :).

If you’re paid bi-weekly, you can also get a month ahead by using the extra paycheck months to fund ahead. I will be doing that this year. I have some bills a month ahead by assigning those dollars to get out of the credit car float. I use YNAB to digitally stuff (I love it).

I get a month ahead by leveraging time hence whatever amount I need to cover a months worth of expenses I set a budget to generate that amount of funding in half the time hence in 2 weeks therefore allowing me the ability to further leverage time and generate more funding or enjoy 6 months worth of freedom…I’m in love with the options a budget grants you if you truly understand how to leverage time and money

These types of videos just started popping up for me so I’m so confused as to how this works so please excuse me if my questions sound crazy. I understand the money comes from your pay check so are you cashing the check and keeping all the money in your home for budgeting then putting the money in the bank to pay your bills?
@101kitii

Not sure if you'll ever see this comment, but I was wondering...How are you able to set aside bill money biweekly if your bills are split biweekly? For example, I get paid on the 1st and 15th of every month. So, that means when I get paid on the first, all the bills with a due date between the 1st-14th are paid with that first check. This is my current system, and I hate it. I want to switch to this system and cash stuff, but I am having a hard time seeing how I split my checks. Advise?

Thanks for the video Taylor! You also inspired me to start the envelope system! Question for you! There is either a holiday or birthday or some event monthly that I am spending money on, do you recommend creating an envelope for each of these or just a general "occasions" monthly budget?
@lisatausendfreund7940

I'm curious how you go about depositing that much cash into the bank as most have limits on how much you can add. Do you just deposit some each week by whatever is due first? Or maybe half one week, half another week? I am really trying to focus on paying off most of my debt first before I try to get a month ahead but I should be done with that by the end of this year. I also have a variable income and would love to see examples of how you come up with the amounts to budget for your bills depending on what your income is for that paycheck. I have capital one checking and savings as well and I agree they are awesome as far as no fees and such. The only thing I don't like about it is there are no physical branches, just atm's at cvs and stuff. At least where I live. You can go to the cashier to make deposits, but it's still kind of inconvenient for if you want to take out larger amounts or have specific denominations since the atm only gives 20's.
