Considering pagani rebuilt the first zonda that was used for crash testing this year makes me wish they would recreate this car

Man, was Lamborghini really crazy in the 80s. I've heard about this Countach Evoluzione, definitely an unsung hero and one of my favorite Lamborghinis to date, and I wish that one day, it would be featured in games like Forza or Gran Turismo (unlikely but you can still wish). However, as far as I know, it wasn't the only crazy ideas Lambo had in the 80s. I remember some articles talking about how in 1986, Lamborghini seriously considered putting in the Countach a four-valve engine (presumably a V12) bored out to 7.1 liters with 2 turbos on it. Still going by this article, the engine was rumored to put out 600 hp. This specific Countach model would have been called the Countach 7000, and it had a claimed top speed of, and I'm seriously not kidding, 240 MPH or ~386 km/h. Nearly as fast as a McLaren F1. Now, considering that, as far as I know, only the styling and the engine changed in the Lambo (on the styling, if you were to search "lamborghini countach restyling" on Google, you'd basically find pictures of a very particular Countach, which looks very close to what the 7000 would have looked like), meaning that the car would have been likely heavier and it wouldn't have the best aerodynamics, 240 MPH seems way too much. But I guess that the Countach Evoluzione and this Countach 7000 shows that in the 80s, Lamborghini really had crazy ideas (and they still do in a way).

Yeah could've been pretty badass. More like a Vector than a Lambo

METEORIC BURST Broly yeah they considered putting the Lamborghini boat engine (bored out for 7L based off the original Bizzarini designed engine) and encasing it in the Countach body.

Love the video. What a fantastic machine, I would not have guessed it was that light.... You do realize that a short shifter is nothing like a close ratio gearbox. It reduces shift time somewhat over the open gate shifter, but that's it.

Apparently they didn't bother to paint it. The withe parts look uneven and chalky and some parts seem to have been damaged. Interesting story, i didn't knew about the model. But the pictures are weird. If you are interested by the career of Pagani and other big names of the golden age of italian supercars Davide Cironi had on his channel a series of interviews. It's in italian, but subtitle are disponible in english .

If you read Valentino Balboni's book, "The Best Job in the world", he states that this car was a con. It was thrown together with parts gathered up around the factory and used to blindside the shareholders that they were ahead of the game. In truth, they had used up all their funding on the aborted LM1. It was driven only once by Balboni, who admitted afterwards that it was rubbish.

I've heard two or even three dates for the build of this car. '84, '85 and '87. Lambo had an official model produced with 1985 date on it. Maybe Horacio bought the autoclave in 84?
@willmac17482 жыл бұрын
He bought the autoclave with a bank loan and took it with him when he left - Pagani still use it to this day.

I know this car was crash tested which effectively ended it's life. Still though you gotta wonder what happened to the all pieces of it including the engine? I bet the components of it, even if heavily damaged, would go for serious $$$ at auction.
@jaront49224 жыл бұрын
An f40 is a good car to drive around corners... a countach is barely drivable one the road... ask anyone who had driven the two and they will say countachs were pigs with crap steering and gearboxes. To claim an f40 is crap when it stood the test of time and actually was put into production is unfair and bias. Yes, this car was light but that doesn't mean it was better than other cars just because it was so and had awd. It would have been a better countach but a countach is no track warrior. They probably crashed it for a reason lol I like this unsung seried but a lot of false claims or assumption based on no science or proof. Otherwise mostly interesting and entertaining

Yeah but the f40 had an msrp 4 times as high, so yes I’d hope it is SIGNIFICANTLY better
