Of all the channels I follow, yours sits at the very top as a guaranteed source of pure JOY. It's medicine for my bedraggled critically thinking mind and weary soul that seems to never get a rest in today's shocking;y nonsensical world. I don't just recommend your series to others, I prescribe it with a guarantee to back it. What has brought me here today is your inclusion of Juan Carlos Hugo's work. His art, like many others you've featured, appeals to the very place in my being that exists solely to allow for me to fully appreciate what a wonderful gift it is to be human in spite of all else. It's the direct access to this place that your features grant, that otherwise remains greatly hidden despite my continual lookout for things that bring me and others Joy. I wanted to thank you for including his work even though there is so little known. My hope is to encourage more features that may have otherwise been deemed as too incomplete to add to this awe-inspiring list of invaluable documentation of incredible talents from around the world. This is inarguable Proof that humans are simply Amazing creatures, not just war mongering, greedy, destructive animals. I truly hope that this series Never ends. It's an invaluable body of evidence that stands to correct Anyone who believes that we have no value to add to this planet. It's time we begin to embrace this aspect of our existence in life and reject the ongoing focus on what we do that is nothing but harmful. I believe with this shift we may inspire the desire for doing better, rather than begrudging the need.

Hello and I greatly appreciate your overwhelming praise for the channel, and what I'm attempting to achieve with it. One of the greatest pleasures in making these videos has been coming across obscure talents and introducing them to others who might also appreciate their work. I fully intend to continue making the videos and there's no sign of running out of material for quite a long time. Given my advancing years it's more likely I'll fall off my perch before that happens...

these series are amazing! thank you so much for your work, it's precious. The other interesting children's illustrator Juri Vasnetsov (1900-1973), he made great illustrations, especially in his "classic" period , if you are intrested to make a short review about him, that would be great!

Thank you, you are a great hardworking teacher. I always smile when I find a George Carlson book that has been pencilled in knowing that some child not only looked at his illustrations but took time to get involved in the riddles and puzzles. A lot of children got much pleasure from his work. Is that called interactive? Thanks again.

What a wonderful collection! Leonnec was a rather amusing cheeky fellow. Carlson seems to me to have squandered his greatest achievement by not producing more of the style he adopted for Elizabeth Blanch-Wade. But maybe there wasn’t enough opportunity there to explore his own creativity.

Thanks again for another favourable comment. I've found many of the subjects I've covered have had what seem to be rather odd or unfathomable career moves, and sadly there just isn't enough awritten about them to be able to find out the whys and wherefores.

Hi Pete, thank you so much for your videos, your content is incredible. I’m a fine art student investigating about Georges Leonnec for a proyect and your information really helped me. Would you mind leaving your information sources? Thank you and have a great day!
@petebeard
@petebeard 3 жыл бұрын
Hello and thanks for your appreciation of the channel. I'm sorry to say I can't be much help with regard to Leonnec. The only information of any substance is on Wikipedia France, and even that doesn't come up on a google search. You have to first go to Wikipedia France and then search for Georges Leonnec. That page quotes a couple of sources but they seem to lead nowhere as far as I can tell. The best I could do was copy it into Google translate and try to turn it into some semblance of English. I know that academics frown on Wikipedia, but sadly it's the only resource for many of the illustrators I've featured. Maybe you could switch to someone with a stronger profile (Cheret? Lautrec? Cassandre?) for the purpose of your written work, and maybe check out what your library stocks before deciding. Either way I wish you the best of luck.

@@petebeard Thank you so much for your help, i’ll try to do some research and i will think about changing it to another illustrator, but it’ll be such a shame because i’m completelly in love with Leonnec’s drawings.

Pete, every video is better than precedent one! How do you arrive to make these series ? I'm really appreciate If you can explain something about it.. it's seems obvious - when we see your work, but it isn't no obvious before - that the "unsung heroes" deserves their "songs", but what was your inner motivation to bring us these gems of art and time!!

Hello again. This answer might be a bit on the long side. Having taught illustration for 15 years I came to understand just how ignorant young students were about the great earlier illustrators, so when I retired I thought it would be a good idea to pay tribute to those I consider almost unknown (and a few who arent). And on a personal level I need occupation in my old age and I choose to no longer work for clients who are generaly idiots. So here we are. And there are still as many waiting to be featured as I've already done so I hope you will stick around.

@@petebeard I'll answer in a short while....now I'm only give you two names, genious, that I've known, two of them from Uruguay. One of them, the most notorius : Hermenegildo Sábat ( Menchi ), who has published - working from BsAs, the big market of South America- in US, in newspapers and with an impressive book about Tango musicians and singers. The second, the one who had worked in advertising only in Uruguay : Armando Ledoux, who sadly die last year. I'm have had the honor of see him working....I was an aprentice in the same agency, and then we made a friendship who last over the years. Both have had their beggining carrer at the same advertising agency, just disappeared in the late 90's....Publicidad Oriental.

Hi Pete.... The last artist, Juan Carlos Huergo wouldn't do too well in today's society, at least not with his cigarette art, though his style would work with anything else. Thanks for another educational video. Hope all is well and stay safe.
