In my opinion the concept of less friction due to low contact area is not correct. The formula for friction force = mhu x N. Where mhu is a material constant and N is the normal Force. Mhu can’t change and the the normal force stays the same if you draw the free body diagram. There will be exactly the same amount of friction, regardless of the contact area.

Agree. Also, the video invokes rubber materials. Rubber's friction behavior is unique and not like other materials.
