Untangling Sensory Experience Leads to Flow, Unifications, and Dynamic Doing ~ Shinzen Young

00:05 - Shinzen shares his regard for the Buddha as a great spiritual scientist, the Issac Newton of spirituality. He talks about the Buddha's discoveries regarding ultimate human happiness and spirituality and the traditional Buddhist "untangle and be free" or "divide and conquer" strategies that conquer ignorance, suffering, and the screwed up behaviors that come from ignorance and suffering.

03:12 - "When the elements that produce the sense of self are not distinct in awareness, they ... magnify the sense of suffering ... and produce an illusory perception that there is a thing called a self inside us. When you untangle the strands, the somethingness of the self goes away, which frees up the doingness of personality."
04:20 - Shinzen then shares that he generalized this approach in a contemporary way through his formulation of working with 12 sensory states (and 6 sensory spaces) and the untangling of other components.
