Thanks for playing Splitsie! It was lovely to watch and of course great to meet you at PAX. (PS: Trust me, the misaligned solar panels on the Small Module annoy me just as much! That'll be fixed the next time I do a modelling pass on that module.) (PPS: Y-Invert coming in Demo 2.5 - couple weeks from now. No idea how you play with that setting, but I suppose I should support it! 😆)

The first few minutes and I'm like "Gee is this the alarm sound simulator?"
@MMuraseofSandvich7 күн бұрын
The alert buzzer reminds me of the master alarm from _Apollo 13._ In fact I bet a lot of the problems that the Odyssey had to solve to get home are going to be similar, starting with electricity. "Power is everything!" Come to think of it, the spacecraft looks like the top bit of a Saturn rocket orbiting... Saturn. The design of the O2 gauge is also very similar to that on the command module. 😆
@Untethered-Game6 күн бұрын
I'm so glad you picked that up - a lot of art is inspired from the Apollo program, including the master alarm, the TUG (which is inspired by the S-IVB Saturn V stage) and the gauges, so very well done!

33:36 and I am crying that he STILL hasn't checked to see if his lab is actually ON! Update: 51:18 Eat food! Drink Water!... Oh, yeah it's Splitsie, of course he forgot. Update 2: Having played the game I can confirm one internal module on the start wreckage (both wrecks are apparently part of the same station) still functions and can be used. At the intersection before the airlock the other intact module has a functional water tank inside that can fill the empty water pouches.

The aesthetics of the game really reminded me of Hardspace: Shipbreaker. The UI font seems to be the same, and the suit warning lady is at least very similar. Can't say whether direct connection or same root of inspiration though.

50:04 if it were milliampere hours it would be lower case 'm' for mAH. And I'm no electrician but a regular car starter-battery has a capacity of 1000A, and this fridge-size box seems to be able to hold 500 times that, seems wrong to me, especially for the 1970's. edit: doing some google-fu I found that the lunar lander and lunar rover batteries held a couple of hundred Ampere hours each, Perseverance Mars rover have 2 lithium batteries at 43 Amp hours each.

Since when do you need to process telemetry before you can stuff something into a cupboard?
@adamjenkins76537 күн бұрын
Since FICSIT expand into the material storage business.
@Valenorious6 күн бұрын
@@adamjenkins7653 That would be a satisfactory answer if this was Satisfactory. ;) But it isn't.
@rob-rendell5 күн бұрын
From the perspective of the game, I guess it's because you start with 4 credits, and the only way to earn credits initially is to start generating telemetry data. If the game let you spend your starting credits unlocking the cupboard blueprint instead of unlocking the telemetry blueprint, you would then be soft-locked. And thinking about it in fiction, the tree isn't a research tree, it's an incentive scheme from a company that wants space explorers to send them data, so the prerequisites can be completely arbitrary.

@Flipsie7 күн бұрын
I doubt it looks much like a manhole cover any more, but there is footage from a blast test done in the US where I believe 2 frames of a manhole cover are visible and from that you can estimate its velocity, the velocity it reached exceeded escape velocity. If you give a game a bad review because you don’t like one of the sound effects then you should see someone to check if you have a physiological or psychological condition regarding reactions to sound. That’s not normal and you probably have an auditory stimulation sensitivity.
