Thank you Capt Aaz Haroon for revealing the history behind the PIA disaster. What you say we already knew, from media reports, though not in such details..We are perhaps the only nation on this planet earth, where self-interest dominate to the extreme over common interest of the nation and its people, where the Government, the elite, the feudals, the bureaucrats, judiciary, politicos, generals, Chauderies, Sardars, Waderas, tribal elders, and ever ordinary citizens, all work in tandem for their own mega self-gains in assets, and thereby destroy the fabric and development of the society, and so we have become a beggar nation. The story of PIA is to be found everywhere in all institutions, right up to the level of everyday public dealings.. The honest exceptions are so few that they are lost in oblivion. Privation of PIA is very likely a false hope because it cannot survive on a sinking ship that generates no knowledge, no technology, no wealth, no culture, no human development. The only slight hope for PIA could be the overseas Pakistanis, who must travel to come home to their families. What a depressing environment we live in. (From a scientist and teacher in natural sciences, who spent 60 years of his life in teaching at universities and fundamental research in physical sciences in Pakistan)

An excellent series. What a wonderful and magical personality of Aijaz sb is. He has shared whole story very briefly and concisely. Wish we could have executed Pk-Tk agreement; things would have entirely different now. Pia lost his direction strategically and not tactically as he has shared his experiences. This podcast is excellently produced, and among the most articulated that I ever listened. The situation of PIA, mirrors the current state of Pakistan. The narrative highlights rampant injustice, pervasive corruption, and a prevalent self-serving mindset, all of which are contributing to the country's decline. As an outsider to everything (Paakistan, PIA, Paakistan political landscape, micro-macro equations between people/ organisations).. i do feel like some of what he said.. has merits. Lekin ek cheez hamesha hoti hai: nothing is ever purely 'black and white'. There always are grey areas.. and there ALWAYS is more than what meets the eye. . Like i said, I am an outsider.. i am from India and never personally crossed the border. . Lekin yeh jo 'hum tou jee clean-up kar ke, corruption hataney aaye hein' waali lollipop.. we often get it. This exact same claim was made by the post-2014 NDA government (basically BJP) here in India.. when the then defence minister claimed to have weeded out the middlemen.. kickbacks (bribes) during procurement. . So if i invested more than three hours.. watching both interviews (part 1 and this) back to back. I surely might have some genuine hook.. in it. . Largely i do feel like his strong political background, his family already being well entrenched on both sides of the border. Well.. things could not have been as simple as: i happened to be there and despite no personal interest.. I became the surety for Mister Ten percent. . Obviously the dumps that PIA is in.. needs the final solution of privatisation. Yehi yahaan bhi hua.. aur ho raha hai. Almost all profit making PSUs (public sector undertakings) are declared unfit to be run or shown with bulging liabilities.. then sold for a pittance.. aur phir raat-o-raat unki kaaya-palat ho jaati hai. They get turned around and at times .. even sold of piecemeal by the new owners. . The rot in PIA is unfortunately not just of PIA.. but our collective cultural identity. 'chalta hai' attitude, bureaucratic and political meddling and the near total collapse of adherence to even the most basic safety issues. PK-743 ka 2017 waala incident ho (7 passengers in aisle) ya phir CAA air baakiyon ki shoddy final report .. on some of the most tragic crashes. . These cultural things are endemic to our region. And I daresay that mere privatisation .. by itself.. would not necessarily make it as safe an airline.. even if it turns profitable. . I was deeply pained by the loss of Junaid ji (Junaid Jamshed) and others. And this would continue happening in the private sector too.. unless more broad-based changes are brought in. . This interview was insightful but I felt like Farhanji handled Aijaz ji with (for the pack of a more mellow term) kid gloves. Or may be those parts are edited out. Aap ek salikey-daar rishta qaayam rakhne ke chaltey.. jyada probing nahin kar paaye.

With 28 years of airline experience I m a witness of events and had read the TK-PK Agreement and seen the retaliation by Joint Action Committee of PIA Employees. OTHER AGENCIES which facilitated the closure of airports, disruption of operations, and hardships to innocent passengers under instructions of civil leadership has been omitted or edited from the interview. Competent Management truly free from political and all other interference can still turn around the airline and it can remain a national flag carrier.

Yes, of course Khurshid Shah had used the same method earlier, 50 crore bid of Rohri cement factory privatisation was stopped through union. Shah Sahib's frontman wanted to buy that factory for only eight crores. Captain sb. is absolutely correct.

70 years ago an unknown and proud Pakistani named A Salam returned home to contribute to the development of a young country. He was ostracised, ridiculed, rebuked, discriminated, insulted until he could no longer take it. He didn't see a future for himself. Aijaz Haroon is among the tens of thousands, maybe not be in the same category, but true and very able patriots who want to bring about a change, have been badly let down by the dishonest system.
