Omg, when my sister was 7 she had adopted a pet STINKBUG! Yes you heard right. She loved her. Set her up in a little cubby in her room. Had a rectangle piece of cloth for a rug. Had decorations for her, she was living the life. Until one day she wanted the stinkbug to look “pretty”, and with nail polish painted her “shell”... didn’t end up well. R.I.P. my sister’s stinkbug.

Triops are neat if you take the plastic tank you're given with them and put them in a terrarium around that. Certainly they were cannibals, but the survivors get huge, and they like to chew on any grass that dips into their tank. Treat them like the transitory predator shrimp things they are, and they'll give you something to watch. Also dry out the tank for a while after they die off and any eggs they laid will be viable for a long time.

Fun fact on triops: They can reproduce asexually. Luckily the eggs only hatch once they've been completely dried out and sat for a while. I've honestly considered getting some since this trait means a triops colony can essentially be biologically immortal with a controllable dormancy period. The fact that they look like weird alien monsters is a plus too.

I had hermit crabs when I was little, I named one Mr. Pincher because after my grandma gifted me the little guy HE PINCHED ME, he had a dinosaur painted on his shell and I loved him…but a few months later he somehow escaped his tank, crawled out of my room, got himself behind the old cat box and had died there and I never knew it until mom found him. I loved him but he was a PAIN IN THE ASS TO TAKE CARE OF…he wouldn’t stop pinching me even if I’m putting him back in his tank gently he never stopped…

I had triops and I loved them. A few survived and stayed pretty big pretty long, but there was definitely cannibalism. I weirdly wasn't upset by it, though I think knowing about cannibalism beforehand in general also helped. Other than that, I dunno. I've primarily had just cats. I also had turtles, guinea pigs, and fish at varying points. There were also a few kits my mom had gotten for ladybugs, ants, butterflies, and seamonkeys, and triops as previously mentioned. I highly recommend the first three especially, and I never recommend seamonkeys. Triops are iffy -- again, re: cannibalism and looking terrifying. They're good if you like terrifying cannibalistic water bugs, though.

We have a chicken named Sharron, she has: -eaten live mice -eaten chicken -been besties with our outside cats -lived in perfect harmony with our dogs since we got her -TERRORISED the new puppy -stolen food from our cats -lived to 7 thus far -been very social and friendly -eaten out of our hands -walked into the house, made eye contact, proceeded to sh*t on the floor then leave (this has happened many times) -chased the puppy away and then taken over his bed -we’re also pretty sure she beheaded our rooster but we never found his body so we’ll never know, it’s just a theory, a chicken theory. -we loved her so much that we wanted to get some chicks so we got a rooster, he did the whole dance thing and she looked at him, then proceeded to attack and rip his feathers out and terrorise him into submission. -she also likes getting in the house then hiding until we find her. Update: Sharron recently passed away at the ripe old age of 8, she died peacefully in her sleep, rest in peace my beloved therapy chicken.

1:37 Amy talks about how she became terrified of stick insects because her mother was terrified. Funny enough, I had a babysitter when I was around three and she feared snails. Being the kid I was, I started to fear them, too. To this day I still can't pick up snails (not even by the shell), I avoid bushes and anything that could contain snails. When it rains and I go outside, I walk on my toes and scan the ground constantly to make sure I don't step on any. Goes to show what influence an adult can have on a young child.

@@sarahjordan4845 So there’s 3 major stages, the first which is where Ripley would die, is for waste water directly from people. The pipes bring the waste water to the plant and into a large tank. The tank gets skimmed and settles large pieces of waste. The waste then gets pushed to an incinerator to burn and be part of the fuel for the plant. One of two things happens, the water is deemed fit to go into the nearest large wild source of water or goes through another stage where chemicals assist further in separating out waste and nasty from the water, and if the water is meant to be for humans at some point, further chemicals are added to kill any water based diseases such as cholera.

We've had birds, guinea pigs, hamsters, bunnies, fish, cats and plenty of dogs (5 at the same time at one point), my dad often would foster dogs when I was a kid, he's loved dogs since he got a wolf dog named when Rexy when he was 5

I had a betta fish called Fillou, he was the best fish ever, he watched memes and knew exactly the hour to get fed, and a few tricks. We got him a girlfriend and she killed him. We made him a nice funeral. Then I had a cat, Caligo. He hated everyone and mildly tolerated me. We got him fixd and he ran away. Or my parents kicked him out and never told me the truth cuz they hated him. There was a goldfish called Beeg Eyezz cuz he had a big eye. Two snails, my mom threw out one of them while it was still alive, the other one liked to eat fish poop and his name was Sir Whiskers and he became a god in my music class after dying and I had drawn him in the whiteboard. I also had one of those worms you find on corn cobs, it suddenly became a moth and I called her Radiant Luna. We released her.

My older sister had a pet tarantula when I was little. At first, I was fascinated by the tarantula, but then I started having nightmares about it crawling into my bed at night. Then one day, I went into my sister's room and starting dancing around like a weirdo in front of the tarantula's tank. All of a sudden, I heard this creepy hissing sound coming from the tank. I froze for a moment and then ran out of my sister's room. I've been terrified of tarantulas ever since.

I was dumbfounded when discovering the existence of these creatures in the park when it became a huge puddle because of a strong storm (their eggs can last for MANY years in stasis until the rain pours down and makes them hatch.) Long story short: I took one of them and put it into a fish bowl (the freak even moulted and had this bright pink skin afterwards.) Few minutes later, it dissapeared and we never saw it ever again... I blame the cat we had back then.

But I remember the manual telling me they had tons of eggs in there, just that most wouldn't be visible because when they still weren't visible it was basically cannibal city. Young 6 year old me just thought, "yeah, I'm not stupid enough to judge a dinosaur for it's diet." I had these guys several more times, and there I don't think I had one that ever had more than one fully grown one that had eaten all the rest. Then I had ant farms and my love for ants was secured! The reason the triop was trying to jump out of the cage is because it needed more space to move in. Maybe it needed a bigger tank. And when rainfall comes you could release it into a puddle so it could lay its eggs. Then when the puddle dried up the eggs would remain dormant until the next eggs. But yes I know this triop was flushed into the sewers, never to be seen again. And these guys will not lay eggs in you at night. They’re more similar to horseshoe crabs.
