So adorable they named the hilo “spudnik” I’d like to travel to these places and work a few hours doing different jobs like mike Rowe did on dirty jobs. Some of the equipment they use looks like fun to operate. I don’t want a career doing the jobs, just want some free time with their fun toys

Free potatoes! I know you have a Reefer but would sweeping be enough I have a dry van… this looks like a good sweeping would’ve done the trick to clean it up
@JJtheTrucker
@JJtheTrucker 2 жыл бұрын
No, it was a smelly mess back there. Definitely needed a washout. I do dry van now and couldn't even imagine doing this load in it.

Whatever you do, don’t haul onions (if you havnt already ) I hauled cheese from the prime yard out to Washington then got a load for onions out to NY and the smell was all in my truck 😂 even after a washout. Very cool vid hopefully I get this load out at some point

I hope they paid you good money to drag that heavy load of potatoes to Idaho. You're going to need a good washout after this just to load some more potatoes maybe. There are a few different ways places unload potatoes. This is probably the best way but ur trailer floor is going to be full of potatoes stuck in the cracks but u already know this.
@JJtheTrucker
@JJtheTrucker 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah it paid really well. In fact I even told my dispatcher to send me on that run anytime you want. Prime paid for the washout too. Good thing because was $150!

Nice to see the rest of the sweet potato journey. Surprised they don’t get all broken up in the process of being dumped. Not to mention being jostled around while on the road. Quite interesting!

@JJtheTrucker
@JJtheTrucker 4 жыл бұрын
Even better. I can show you the video Prime shows us during orientation. Plus they say there's less rolling resistance and weight, so it saves on fuel. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mni5cn6hpK-JptE

Wow, u would think with duallys the more weight on less surface area, the better traction and control..... I wonder what about on snow and ice? (I’m Canadian)
@JJtheTrucker
@JJtheTrucker 4 жыл бұрын
There are a lot of varying opinions on it tbh. I didn't have any issues last winter on singles. My next truck will probably have duals so I can compare the 2.

Hello JJ. Great video bro👍👍. Got a question for you buddy. Let said your at your 90. You check in they tell you to drop trailer on door 20 and then you park at waiting area so you go to sleeper berth planning on doing a 8/2 split you want to take your first 2 hours at your 90, but it only took them 1 hour to get your load ready. So your 1 hour short.so what you do to move your truck in order to go pick up your trailler and not messing up your 2 hours sleeper ? Thank you very much . Hope to get a answer.
@JJtheTrucker
@JJtheTrucker 4 жыл бұрын
I try to avoid 8/2s as much as possible cuz they're confusing as hell. But, Kearsey is the queen of the splits. Check her video out regarding it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z6KYeGd4fZ1mr7c

How much did that load weigh ? Very interesting. I thought they would lift trailer . Would b quicker but harder on potatoes . Idk if they would bruise like a Apple . Equipment to lift trailer would definitely b more expensive than the setup they have . Hey if u go through Laramie Wyoming there’s a Akal travel center truck stop that has fantastic Indian Food .that was really cool I liked it sped up . Great video
@JJtheTrucker
@JJtheTrucker 4 жыл бұрын
It was just over 45,000 lbs. Nah, they wouldn't bruise. Maybe it's to prevent damage to the Reefer? Maybe it's just that location does it that way. Dunno. Thanks for the foodie tip, too 😋

Was that good paying load$$$$$$ About what was the miles starting to finish Would you Hall potatoes again
@JJtheTrucker
@JJtheTrucker 4 жыл бұрын
It was about 2350 miles over 5 days and it paid really well. Just shy of $3300. Worked out to around $660/day. I loved that load and will be asking to do it again. It was quick loading and unloading, plenty of drive time and relaxation time and anything over $575/day is OK. I go for $600/day as my target.

Looking good JJ. After you get some experience you should look into landstar, Mercer, Schneider, ECT. They all have much better terms for owner opporators in the research I've done. Good luck and keep the shinny side up.
