Today I pay tribute and visit the grave of TV star Paul O'Grady, the whole country felt the loss of this legendary Tv presenter and comedian.
Paul James O'Grady MBE DL (14 June 1955 - 28 March 2023) was an English comedian, broadcaster, drag queen, actor, and writer. He achieved notability in the London gay scene during the 1980s with his drag persona Lily Savage, through which he gained broader popularity in the 1990s. O'Grady subsequently dropped the character and in the 2000s became the presenter of various television and radio shows, including The Paul O'Grady Show.

Celebrities pass away all the time, but rarely do I feel the sense of personal loss like I did with Paul O’Grady. I share with him an absolute love of dogs, and I truly believe he is such a loss. What a talent, what a personality, what a sense of humour and wit and what a man. He will be hugely missed and for me, the world is a sadder place without him. Thank you for sharing this one Paul - another great film that celebrates a most super man xx

I couldn’t agree with you more.. I feel as if I’ve loss a relative. Paul had a special, natural connection with people from all walks of life, including the animals. He captured his audiences and was a natural with everyone. He was humble and real to himself & the people, which is why he was loved so much. People don’t come around like this very often…very rare to have this gift. He was one of a kind. “Thank you” Paul for all the joy you brought to our TV screen and the love you gave to the animals. You’ll be sorely missed. ❤❤❤

We met Paul in a Veterinary Surgery in Ashford Kent with one of his dogs and he sat amongst us General Public in the waiting room and chatted away as if he had known us for years. One thing I noticed was his elegant hands and in particular his wedding ring. A ring with the embellishment of two hands on top of each other on the top. Pure Class. Like Our Paul. Pure Class.

I adored Paul O'Grady, wether as lily savage or as himself, he could make you laugh with the outrageousness of lily, and make you cry with his amazing work with Battersea cats and home. @Shaun Prendergast, Sorry for the small correction but I think it was more like "Battersea Dogs, " not cats. I (at least) never saw Paul on t.v with any cats, he always seemed to have a great love for dogs. As we all know, he had his own dogs ( Buster, plus 2 or 3 others) too.
@OddOne251
@OddOne251 Жыл бұрын
@@littlemissie7978 no, it was cats too. The centre's full name is "Battersea Dogs & Cats Home", and yes, Paul appeared with a few cats throughout the series. Obviously dogs were the focus but he shone the spotlight on the odd cat here and there, too.

One of my favorite routines he did was in Lily Savage Ep 2 when he was talking about the fire in Windsor Castle, Margaret left the chip pan on and the next thing you know the Queen's rollers are stuck to the pillowcase! Lily was absolutely beautiful! (PS: I am shocked that Buster is still there. If it were in the US, someone would have stolen it. )

I met Paul when i was 11 yrs old, we used to attend the same weekly Disco, at a church called St Werbergs, in Birkenhead on the Wirral, he was 4 yrs older than me, but we always had a good laugh and chat, for a few years, and i didn't bump into him again till i was 18, i saw him walking around town, and went to say hi to him, we ended up going for a coffee, and a catch up, in later years i bought his first book, and had the shock of my life when i saw his pictures, and realised he was the same Paul as i knew all those yrs ago, i didn't even relate Lilly Savage to him, as he had been a skinny lad with a mop of curly hair, he looked so different, and now he has gone, i feel so bereft, and wish i had had another chance to grab a coffee and chat with him, RIP Paul, my old mate

I was shocked and devastated on the death of our most funniest legends of all time Paul O Grady. The entertainment industry has lost an icon and heaven an Angel. I can imagine him with Cilla Black looking after all the animals and passing funny statements. Rest in peace Paul and a very big thank you for giving the public a sense of your humour which went down well with his audiences x

If you haven't watched it, Paul's eulogy at Cilla Blaack's funeral is wonderful. The comment from the priest at the end is the icing on the cake.

I so adored Paul and as I watched the news announcement of his death, my heart broke I could not believe it, the only consolation being that so sudden he wouldn't have suffered hopefully. I still can't believe this and so glad you showed us his burial site. I'm not someone in awe of celebrity but I make an exception in Paul's case, he was a wonderful delight, very kind hearted and so sincere. I tell you now, Battersea will never find another to replace him. There should be at the very least a plaque at Battersea, and also a Statue either in Kent or Liverpool, he deserves it. May he Rest in Peace, God Bless his soul xx

Thankyou Paul,you payed Paul a beautiful tribute.That church and burial ground is stunning,so beautiful and tranquil.I loved Paul,I have always said I would of liked him as a friend,because I bet you had great times with him,and he would of been a loyal friend.I had read his biography and I laughed through most of it,he had such a colourful life.I was really upset when Buster passed away,he was such a beautiful little dog.I loved watching Paul in Battersby dog show,he had so much love for all those dogs,and I think he would of taken them all home if he could love him.I am really surprised that he is laying right next to his manager and X partner,he must of really loved him.Paul you are such a kind man,buying flowers and putting them on Paul’s resting place.I hope that one day not to far in the future that I will be able to put some flowers on Paul’s resting place.He is so sadly missed,may he rest in peace.❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏💐💐💐

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this video. Paul was an amazing man and completely down to earth. The person that you see on the tv is exactly how he was off screen. Funny, lovable, annoying but most of all a genuine gentleman and a gentle soul. Thank you once again. 💔

Still can't believe he's gone. I never thought of him as a celebrity, he was just Paul O'Grady - our Paul; someone we all felt we knew and we loved him. I'm sincerely going to miss his presence in the world. Gosh, I'd come home from college and we'd all sit round the table as a family and watch him while we ate our tea, he brought so much laughter and joy to our evenings. Then he went on to do "For the love of Dogs" which made me adore and love him even more. He's genuinely going to be missed and I've shed a tear or few for him, it's unreal. I've been watching him as Lily over the last few weeks and he's had me in tears again, tears of laughter because he was an absolutely incredible perfomer. A wonderful human being altogether, I never knew him but I miss him. God bless you Paul. We love you. Rest in peace and eternity with your beloved little Buster, I'm sure he's been waiting for you.

We felt it because he was so down to Earth you felt if you met him he would have stood and had a chat. He didn’t forget where he came from or think he was better than anyone else. He could turn any situation into comedy gold. I read his autobiography I cried with laughter when he described his aunts new false teeth on the NHS . He said his aunt asked him and his mum what they thought giving them a big smile he said she looked like Mr Ed the talking horse. I chuckle every time I think of that. I loved him for his love of animals and his work for Battersea dogs home. The world is the worse for his loss. But he still gave me a chuckle when the band broke into New Orleans ragtime music. God bless and keep you Paul. RIP Paul safe in Gods keeping.

What a lovely tribute to Paul, thankyou. I didn't know him, never met him either, but I saw him live twice before he became really famous, once in a pub in my town which had different drag artists on weekly around 1981, and again later in a club which had a monthly gay night on a Monday. Artists entered the stage there down some stairs from another room which I was going up to, and I waited for him to come down the stairs and pass me before I could go up. I always remember that because he was brilliant that night. He did appear again at a later date there, but I didn't go on that occasion.
