I worked for a friend that was there pulling a 3 axle step, flatbed and he pulled step and rgn. I was there from 2018 to 2020, work your own network, do favors for the right agent and build relationships and you'll do good. I had a few good one's hauling military and crane moves. Stay safe out there 👍

Interesting again, Rob. Here's something I really believe to be true, jobs, companies, trucks, wives, and most other things in life are like shoes. No matter how good they are, THEY HAVE TO FIT YOU! Randy and I share the same opinion about Landstar. As soon as I find a better company for me, I will be gone. But for now, this works best for me. Here's a real sore spot for me, however, I have been to Jacksonville twice where the World Headquarters has a gorgeous golf course, and NO TRUCK parking. Really?
@truckingresources42408 ай бұрын
Thats interesting. I have only ever been there for some BCO Days back in the day. I hadn't actually thought about it. I'm pretty sure that I could fit that truck in there if I had to, I might not get it out but I would probably have a flashing light ride out at that point LMAO. Also, by "Randy" do you mean the Superhauler from GA? I don't want to say his last name on here and Superhauler might not be the right term but it is what I call everybody like you and Mark that haul superloads.
@michaelheisey28698 ай бұрын
Randy is my partner, dispatcher and a great friend. We work in the same building. Mark will know him. I think he's been at Landstar 35 years or so. I met him in 1988, been friends ever since.

I have a big love for landstar, started with them and was on a 6 month probation as a new bco, got in a non preventable accident with a guy who was having a medical issue and ran into me. Landstar fired me because I was still on probation. I thought it was the end of the world, but it was the best thing to happen to me. Sometimes, God brings you troubles to make you grow.

Robert -- Interesting video. I remember Imway. 25 some years ago I remember a driver that used to get on the radio and say "My company berry berry good to me.". LOL. It was hilarious. There has been a few characters like that on the radio over the years, such as Bam Bam in OKC who had a big radio and could walk all over the other radios. He used to power up at night and say the same thing over and over every few minutes. He would say "I got my nightgown on. I got my pretty red panties on. And Ima ready to go to bed.". LOL. He had a deep voice with that Okie accent and it was so funny.

Can you do Walmarts private fleet?
@truckingresources42408 ай бұрын
I would like to try to do this. It is actually very hard to get info on just the trucking side because of the size of WalMart. I will do this in the future but this will take more travelling and interview work to get done. This is the part that I love but it takes a little longer!!

@@truckingresources4240 my grandpa drove for Walmart from 2000-2018. Pretty interesting back ground. Sam Walton is the man who started Walmart and from what I remember the old guys saying as a kid was he treated his drivers like family. The company started going downhill once he passed and children took over. They pay very well compared to OTR mega carriers but they are very strict. Before my grandpa retired he had a camera in the truck facing him and pointing out the windshield.

I like your videos on old trucking companies, but I’ll be honest my opinion on LS, I was a fleet owner with them they take way to big of a piece of the pie, everyone likes to say but they take care of everything and we have great discounts, I mean yes but you pay for everything at the end of the day and give them 35% for? You are booking your loads and you are paying for literally everything, just my opinion but a good reason why they are doing so well and most drivers are not.
@truckingresources42408 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for wording this in a debatable way. So many comments would be "You're an idiot and will never make money" or "Landstar screws everybody" lol. How do you work with that? Let me come at you from a different angle. Landstar actually pays 72%. Your equipment actually made 72%. The fact is that you would have received that rate if you had hauled that load without using their trailer. The truck is worthless without the trailer and the trailer is worthless without the truck, so you actually rented a piece of equipment that you did not own and could not do the job without. Now people will also say that 72% is too much. I don't disagree with that and it is something that works for me but not everybody. Again, thank you so much for being a reasonable commenter lol. I'd love to hear where you ended up with your fleet and how you are doing now. Please feel free to email me or comment on here!!

Is it true that they charge 30% of your gross?
@truckingresources42406 ай бұрын
Kind of but no. The actual number is 35% but that is not totally right. There is a sliding scale depending on what equipment you bring. If you bring just a truck and pull a company dry van than it is 35%. But, There is a lot more involved. If you want to know more I'd be happy to talk with you. Email me at finchresources@gmail.com.

Im surprised a man of your degree. Would still be a landstar. In my personal opinion they are shit. Double broker everything. My dad was at inway for 30plus years its not the same company. You call a landstar broker and they are from another country everytime
@truckingresources42406 ай бұрын
You got some real bad info. I have not hauled a brokered load for over 2 years and I never talk to anybody from another country.
@AltlandfamilyTrucking6 ай бұрын
I'm not.leased to.landstar but a preferred carrier for.them. there's only 1 good agent in central Pennsylvania for them. As far as the double brokering I am correct. Alot of agents will get loads of the load boards and post it up on landstar board.
@truckingresources42406 ай бұрын
@@AltlandfamilyTrucking But you said that Every load is double brokered and every agent or broker as you said is out of the country. But then you also just said that you are a preferred carrier for them. Why would you deal with them if they are ripping people off by having every load being double brokered and every agent being from another country. Also, Why are you saying they are shit when you are a "preferred" carrier. I'm not trying to be mean but I don't understand it.
