Awesome! For a post stroke in the cerebellum due to a vertebral artery dissection would the head movements be well to help with the dizziness and vertigo? I’m fine sitting down and doing them but once standing it gets tricky lol
@treatdizzinessathome2023Ай бұрын
Well.. cerebellar stroke requires some additional treatment, but head movements can be beneficial because the vestibular nerve goes to the cerebellum and then the cerebellum gives us our eye output and balance output. So it is an effective treatment strategy, but more is needed for a full program. Are you in vestibular therapy?

@@treatdizzinessathome2023 No mam, I’m going on Oct7 for follow up with neurologist to see how the artery is doing but not therapy for VRT. I have emotional therapy now and just did an evaluation with OCVT in Austin to get and evaluation and actually I’m getting my program follow up 2mrow to see what I need to work on. I has a little bit of depth perception issues but major culprit is eye convergence:/ but I had vertigo and disequilibrium :( it’s gotten better 3 months out but when I sit down on a hard llchair or stand up i have damn wobble sensation and especially turning left or right. Sorry for novel

Thank you Amy! I have heard horror stories about the Caloric Test. Where people cannot finish it because the dizziness is so bad, or the dizziness it creates stays with them for days/weeks afterwards. How common is this? I am finally starting to feel better after months of dizziness after a BPPV episode, and I really dread having this test and feeling like that again. It causes me a lot of anxiety.
@treatdizzinessathome2023Ай бұрын
It certainly is an interesting phenomenon. Essentially, if you have normal functioning vestibular system you would have symptoms, but if you then have a normal vestibular system, your symptoms should go away. So what would cause such a response? Well the cellular activation can be to causing migraines. So, the assumption is is that the brain is hypersensitive and that is causing a reaction that should not occur. I would say in my experience a majority of patience do fine with the testing with temporary dizziness, then goes away within an hour or so. However, if the test does trigger a migraine or some anxiety response, you have lingering symptoms. So know that ahead of time and maybe having migraine medicine available or talking with a behavioral therapist prior to the test can give you strategies and how to deal with experiencing the dizziness but knowing that overall the test is safe and everything should go back to normal Because it doesn’t cause any long-term damage to the brain or the ear, etc. I think they half the battle is just understanding what the test entails and how the body will respond as half the battle. Now, if you have no dizziness during the test that actually can be more problematic, because it means that you need vestibular therapy and your vestibular system is not working at all! Hopefully that helps keep us posted.

I had this test yesterday. I did fine until they did the caloric test. I do not like having my eyes covered and honestly I feel like the tech could have done a better job of talking me through it. When the dizziness started I had no idea how much time was left and started to cry. I ended up not being able to finish. Afterwards the tech never said a word so then I was embarrassed that I couldn’t finish. I’ve read other stories where the tech helped calm someone by saying “it’s almost done, you’re doing great” and I think that would have helped. I hate that I couldn’t finish but it is what it is. Not sure if they will be able to gather any info from the results they did get.

I should add that the dizziness did go away a few minutes after the test. I had a mild headache and was very tired for the rest of the day.

@@janicehellzen8765 I just had it yesterday and it was horrible horrible but the tech was amazing and I finished it. I just wanted to trow up during and After the test. Today I have been feeling very weird and my head/ eyes are a bit foggy. Hopefully it will go away soon. I consider myself very high tolerance for pain and normally hold up but yesterday I felt different. I just felt so dizzy, and bad, it kind of gets me a panic attack but the worst part is that I felt it was burning so much. The cold test was the last one and very tolerable. I was ok after every brake the tech game me and she was amazing and very supportive.

I have been severely dizzy and off balance for over 15 years. I am having these tests tomorrow and I'm a little bit nervous. I'm scared it'll make it worse and it's already impacting my life in a terrible way. Thank you for your videos

Conclusions from my tests are mixed. The crystals in my inner ear are fine. Told "never let anybody do another apply maneuver on you." Dizziness caused from severe concussion over 40 years ago. Apparent scar tissue in my Brain that has worsened over the years. And there is no fix for that. I'm a bit relieved to know why I'm so dizzy but I'm so disappointed that there is no relief. Good luck to everybody else. It's very hard to live with this condition. It's hard for anyone who has never experienced this curse Don't understand. Without a cut or bruise they Believe it's all in your head. Well it's true for me. It's all in my head

I'm scared to get the test done. I hate the way I feel when I have a dizzy spill. My question is: If there is dizziness with the air blown into the ear, how will they stop the dizziness? Thank you.

I understand. Well If you have no vestibular function ; you won’t experience anything (means you’ll be headed to vestibular rehab). If you have dizziness your vestibular nerve is functioning and after the stimulation stops and the brain adjusts the dizziness stops after minutes. Vestibular migraines can be triggered by VNG stimulation though. You can always ask your doctor if you can take meclizine or migraine medicine after the procedure if you’re worried about it, triggering your dizziness

I have been Dizzy for 10 months, I did an MRI, CT, Blood Tests and a VNG. The VNG showed 33% abnormal on the left side. What is your suggestion. When I do the exercises I get very dizzy.

Great question! I do have a gaze stability playlist and another great digital resource that takes you from acute injury to chronic recovery but I believe this video below gives you a lot of modifications. The general information that I can give you is everything is modifiable everything is adaptable. It doesn’t benefit you to just push through your symptoms and be miserable. Even if you have to do 10 to 20 seconds of an exercise and calm down completely before you do another exercise that’s perfectly OK! kzbin.info/www/bejne/lWOtfmqgpsyYaposi=SEczokvFDBvPsNk3
