Brandt-Daroff. I was extremely sick. I just want to tell people don't give up. I have had motion sickness since I was a kid. Roller coasters airplanes cars boats. This episode was the worst I have had. It was combined with prescription medications. I tried a lower dose and Brandt-Daroff. It took about 4 days and a lot of prayer. The first 3 days minor improvements and sometimes worse. 4th day started to improve more rapidly. Drink a lot of water, exercise, eat right. 4th day 90 to 95% better. Thank You Jesus and thank You Bob and Brad. Don't give up.

I was diagnosed with BPPV years ago. The doctor prescribed bed rest until it cleared in its own. I could ill afford to take weeks off from my life a few times per year, so I'd muddle through, holding onto things to steady myself and vomiting once or twice per day. At 25 years old I had to use a cane a few times/year just to walk safely. Then I learned the Eply maneuver and it was a godsend. My vertigo resolved within an hour instead of taking days or weeks. Thank you thank you for sharing this information so generously. I have new exercises for my toolkit. I hope no one has to suffer like I did, and they find your simple effective recommendations.

@@airforceone6523 that’s exactly what I think. Some of us are just more prone to it. Also, my vestibular therapist told me that my right ear canal is more prone to it than my left, meaning the spinning happens clockwise. So, whenever I feel it coming on (usually when I’m still sleeping and turn around in bed), I wake up with a jerk… ugh such a horrible feeling!! And then I go straight into the Self-Epley maneuver for correcting my right ear. It helps almost immediately after I do the maneuver. Then I’m good to go… but I gotta keep doing it. At least twice a day-after waking up and before going to bed-every day until that slightly woozy feeling goes away and the spinning that happens when I do the exercise doesn’t keep happening. That’s how I know that I’ve beaten that particular bout of vertigo. No one has adequately answered my question as to exactly WHY it’s my right ear… it just is.

I got verdico back in 2016, I got dizzy, my eyes felt like I was spinning around, I could not see, after the dizziness subsided I felt sick to my stomach, the nurse at work gave me a glass of cold water which made me throw up. I did see ear, nose, and throat who said nothing wrong with my ear but from watching this video there is a problem with the ears. It is the most scariest thing I’ve ever been through. The doctor never talked about therapy.

I was diagnosed with floating crystal years ago. Went to an ent specialist and another time er. Both doctors performed a similar technique. I now do at home usually once a year or so as needed. I sit one bed with feet at footboard. Place a pillow under my lower back, and making sure I have plenty of room, throw myself back. I do deep breathing slowly until dizziness stops, then throw myself to side with head slightly hanging off bed, breathing slowly and deeply until dizziness stops. I only have to do this once and than rest for about 10 minutes and I am good to go.

This exercise worked perfectly for me - after the first day of doing the exercise 3 times that day (5 reps, 3X), I had no spinning - just a little nausea. I had the spinning and nausea in one direction only - i.e., when falling left. I've had vertigo for about 10 years on and off. It's good to know that you can actually treat it when it happens. I plan on continuing the exercise for the next week to ensure that the crystal is back in its place. I'm in the no spin zone. Good luck everyone - like the Doctor said in the video 85-95% success rate!

Yeah, I wonder if it's my exuberant throwing myself out of bed in the morning to get my cawfee! Nectar of the gods, only one mug a day... I will now forever CAREFULLY roll out of bed! (I'm 66 and live alone too.) This is an excellent video! My first time, I called a neighbor to drive me and spent the day in the ER. (Thought it was a stroke -- except I had no "regular" stroke symptoms...) Diagnosed with Benign Postural Vertigo, and let go home when the dizziness stopped. (with drugs for next time.... NEXT TIME?!? EEK!) Next time was last night... annoyance but no fear... Tried Eply, threw up (made it to the toilet, thankfully!) (TMI?). Ended up going to bed at 7:30 (world still rocking and rolling!) Woke up this a.m. fine and stable. Oddly, (?) a couple months ago my "normal" life-long tinnitus got massively LOUDER on the left side.... Last night, it was way loud. Related? Dunno.

I started having vertigo about 25 days ago. It only happened when I was getting out of bed and when I was going from upright to sleep position. It also happened as I was turning from middle to sideways as I was laying. Thankfully it only lasted a few seconds (max. 10 sec), but still it was annoying. I followed the routine in this video a few times, it worked on the fourth! I heard (or imagined?) some kind of soft water flow sound in the second out of the five last repetitions. I stopped having vertigo for about a day, I hope it stays this way! Big thanks to Shari!

I have suffered from vertigo for many years now. I had brain tumour removed many years ago, I had treatment while in hospital by physiotherapist which consisted of exercises to neck while lying with head over end of bed, then holding head down for one min. Then turn to right and repeat holding head still for one min. Then return head up for one min, then repeat on left side for one min, return head up again for one minute and slowly lift up to sitting position .this to be done three times per day until all dizziness has receded. Good luck to all.

The epley maneuver is just a series of head positions that help re-align to the crystals in your inner ear. You can look them up online. Hope this helps.

I'm literally going thru something as I'm watching this. No idea what's wrong with me but I feel like I'm in a dream, drunk, and in slow motion all in one. Thought maybe I'm having a stroke but after watching this it's probably an ear issue. I can't get my balance, damn near falling over. I'm in deer camp camping completely by myself. There's no one else at this campground, very scary actually.

This is me right now. Went to a clinic 3 times and they gave me antibiotics and told me it was an inner ear infection due to a possible virus, but treated me with antibiotics just in case it was bacterial. The meds made me worse and I can't even look up without getting dizzy and light headed. Its my right ear and been going on for about 3 months, my ear hurts too. I just want to move around without me head rocking. Ugh...

Have you visited a vestibular therapist? If not, I highly suggest you do. You don’t have to live with this condition. Find a physical therapy outfit close to you and ask for a consult with their resident vestibular therapist.

I have atypical Meniere’s that causes ear pain (think ice pick in the ear) if I eat too much salt and I get vertigo. Doctor prescribed a high blood pressure medication that regulated my Sodium and potassium levels. Apparently this helped with the fluid movement in my inner ear. Rarely have an issue. If I have pain I can usually determine I ate too much salty food. If I get overly tired I tend to get vertigo.

re: Positional Vertigo... Speaking as a cardiac patient, it seems compromised and/or restricted blood flow may well be a big part of my recent bouts of dizziness, lightheaded feeling, balance problems, etc. Of course, I might be mistaken and -- as such -- bow to those who are far better versed in this condition and its cause & effect as well as treatment.

Better late than never! Having been diagnosed many years ago with Meniere's Disease (briefly described as an inner ear disorder) I highly recommend if you are experiencing re-occurring bouts of vertigo/dizziness best to be tested to determine the actual underlying cause.

@Kanda Schurr I used to have vertigo episodes and of course doctors weren’t able to help. One day I figured out that the artificial coloring in candy triggered my vertigo because I immediately got hit with dizziness after eating it one day. I started self healing after that by switching to all Organic and Natural foods and I haven’t had any vertigo since. I’m not a doctor but maybe your brother and cousin could look at what they are putting in their body. I don’t take any 💊 or put chems in my body, only natural foods and water. Haven’t been to the hospital in years.

I was diagnosed with a vestibule schwannoma 3 years ago, After watching it grow for a year it was surgically removed. The result is I have no left ear function. I have been doing the head turning while focusing on the card and it has helped but... As a cyclist I still have problems turning my head to look for cars coming from behind. Crashed once breaking a collar bone. I had to sell the mountain bike because the shaking was too much. Never did have the puke reflex. Anything else I can do?

Thank you, Brad and Shari! I had a few months of sudden dizziness several times a week last year and had gotten the various tests you mentioned, but my results all came back normal. I have an onset of Vertigo firstly I get really hot, then sweaty, severe Vertigo & immediately have to lye down. At times it causes me to have severe vomiting. I live on my own so there's no way I can drive to get to a Physio let alone they'd have a free space for an instant appointment. I've lost work day's due to this. I take STEMITIL. BUT not sure if that really does anything.

Had this years ago and thought I would die. I used to have chronic earaches as a child and not great circulation. Diagnosed at ColumbiaPresbyterian hospital in NYC special dept for that. Decided I would rather die than get tested again. Meds offered made my heart almost jump out of my chest. My homemade solution for years. Before getting out of bed (poorest circulation time), I reached for 1000mg chewable Vit.C and what was called B15 sublingual. Now called DMG. Took them while still flat. After 10-15 minutes, exercised my arms, then legs. After about 25-30 min. Up and going. Later used DMG with epileptic grandson 2 years old. Supposedly supplies more oxygen to brain and it helped clear the fog he stayed in due to all the anti-seizure drugs he was on.
