@Fein5283 күн бұрын
Such an important topic. Also important to pray even if you are unsure what to say, remember, prayer doesn’t have to be a formal speech or an essay. Like a loving parent, God would rather you chat inarticulate gibberish and to acknowledge Him than to not acknowledge or talk to Him at all. ☦️

You are absolutely correct brother, thank you for uplifting comment.

Very true. Jesus says that our prayers must not be too long for pagans believe that they will be heard because of their many words, but God all mighty already knows what we want and need before we ask Him.
@nicechockКүн бұрын
@@uncagedzebra6941much easier to keep it short. The prayer should be clear though and no gibberish and directed to the Father. As father Spyridon said we must remember the seriousness of who we are adressing with our prayers.

Dear Father Spyridon.... Thank you for your words of advice. Unwanted thoughts have plagued me since childhood. Reading the Philokalia has given me much comfort. Regarding unwanted thoughts, Abba Moses replied to Germanos: 'It is impossible for the mind not to be troubled by these thoughts. But if we exert ourselves it is within our power either to accept them and give them our attention, or to expel them. Their coming is not within our power to control, but their expulsion is."

The devil truly doesn’t have to do much to get us distracted anymore. I think most people feel trapped in their own lives. Everything we’re surrounded with. Even thought we want to be better and just focus on Him, it seems impossible at times. But I guess that’s the struggle, not an excuse but our test.

Pray out loud, impossible to have a thought at the same time
@AndyWitmyer2 күн бұрын
Prayer has always been a struggle for me - I've never felt like I've been capable of doing it correctly. Since I was a babe, my mind has always been burdened with very constant, heavy thinking. This has sometimes proven to be a severe impediment; not just in prayer, but also in my capacity of living my life in the fullness of how God intends for me. Of course, it is whilst in the midst of prayer that my excessive thinking becomes most obvious and magnified - a reality that can, on occasion, lead me to seriously wonder if I am, perhaps, fundamentally defective and irreparably broken and therefore unworthy of God's love or redemption - for why should He want to save someone who cannot even speak to Him with his full attention? Somewhere deep down, I think I know that this isn't so, but knowing this does not always mean that the vanquishing of my these darker ruminations can come by any easier. In any case, I'll have to try and reflect on your words, Father. As is usually the case, your spiritual message has certainly come at just the right time. God bless you and all who have read these words. ☦
