I absolutely LOVE going to the grocery store and markets when I travel. It is one of the coolest ways to just learn about a place and living there. 😊😊😊

Tony, another great video! I love the way you film - i feel like i’m really there, walking with you. The whales were spectacular! I am so impressed by that grocery store, and appreciate you showing us so much of what they were selling. You know, licorice is very popular in Iceland - as you found out earlier when you bought that mystery chocolate bar! Gotta finish the video now to see the Lego. Thank you so much!

You had such a nice day when you were there... we had rain and wind, with hints that the sun might appear, and that made things less 'exploratory' for our group. But there were great hiking trails outside of town as well, and fun to be had! And now, I want to book another cruise back just to shop at that grocery store that I didn't get to see!

Our first cruise after being away from cruising for 20 years was to Antarctica. YES, it was expensive, but by the end of the 14 day adventure, we had seen as many whales, penguins and seals as one could hope for in TEN cruises elsewhere...as a matter of fact, we had a pod of 5 whales following alongside our ship at one point, and it was life-changing! So if wildlife spotting is important to you, an Antarctica cruise is *well* worth the added expense. I guarantee you will have a hard time believing it is the same planet you live on day-to-day!

While I know Iceland is formed by volcanoes, like Hawaii, those mountains with their tops blown off remind me of Diamond Head and it’s crater in Honolulu - a volatile past and, possibly, future. Thanks for capturing those views. And they seem to appear all around your excursion. That excursion was great - whales and beautiful setting. Yes, Dorito’s is part of Lay’s. All owned by PepsiCo.

Tony I got to see alot of scenery of Iceland last summer when my daughter went there, when you got the hot dog in your last video brought back the memories of when she sent me pictures of the menu of all the varieties of hot dogs they sell, also look for their bars of icelandic chocolate bars that they actually make in Iceland they are very good, also look into their gnome culture, parts of Iceland the people believe in gnomes as they have different gnomes for different holidays. They look like ordinary gnomes to scary gnomes, the Christmas gnomes are good and you can collect them as well.

Never made it here either, but it sure is beautiful. 50 degrees is great, we were in Reykjavik in June 2021 & it was 45 degrees pretty much every day & only 1 rainy day. It was warm to me & I wore a t-shirt & long cotton pants every day & brought my rain clothes in case I needed them. The snacks looked great too, say did you like the chocolate covered licorice? In Europe they have salty licorice that I actually enjoy, but I'm not sure about chocolate covered licorice. Another treat for Icelanders is dried fish, kinda like jerky. In Vancouver I got some dried salmon & boy was it great & the Icelandic dried fish is also good.

If you actually get to tender in at Qaqortoq, Greenland, the small town grocery store they have is a pleasant little grocery store. From where you come into town from the tender dock you go straight ahead up the hill and when you get to the road, turn right and the grocery store will be right before the cross road on your left. When you leave the store you will want to take that cross road towards the water to pass through the housing area and if you then keep to the right you will circle back to the port by walking through the warehouse store district. Once you get back to the tender dock you need to head back up that hill to check out the gift shop (actually that was my first exploration area before I went to the grocery store) and wander through the carving on the hillside and the hardware type store near the back door out of the gift shop is the best place to buy the head netting that you can put over your hat when needed. You also need to wander towards the bridge over the harbor towards the cemeteries and to go up the hill to the satellite dishes. I used my head netting when going through the over grown part of the lower cemetery and other times when the flies got annoying. I enjoyed wandering around this town and including the climb up the steps to the satellite dish, I was pretty tired by the time I got back to the ship. We had heavy fog when we entered the port but it this was not on shore which is why our Hotel Director said we should start sending the tender boats in. The fog bell on the ship did ring some even when we were in port. We had a Greenland meteorologist on board the "RCCL Voyager of the Seas" during our September 2022 cruise and I think that is what made such a difference in our ability to do what we were able to do in Greenland.
