I was so mesmerized by the scenery that I barely even used the free Wi-Fi when I rode the UP Express. Spent 5 days in Toronto in 2019, good stuff 👌

Looking at the run and Thank You for posting. I grew up in the Jane & Lawrence area when I was a kid back in the 60's. I will give you a bit of history, that Royal factory, used too be called Facelle and they made toilet paper there. Anyway, before VIA Rail, the CNR used too run Passenger trains through that area. Anyway, CN used too pull freight out of Facelle and brought in Tank cars as well. The Tank cars were just south of the Jane St bridge and another for box car on just north of Jane St. This CNR Passenger came roaring up about 70 MPH and the north switch was not open properly and the train derailed.. At the gate that entered the plant a pipe from the gate came into the rail car and went right through a woman's chest. Amazingly, the pipe miss all her vital organs and she survived. From what I remember she requested the pipe and kept it as a souvenir of the accident.. I also notice the old CNR station is gone and the newer one placed further south.. and that the CPR has still above ground trackage at the Weston Sub.. I also noted the Humber River bridge has gone from a single track too 3 lines,, that is really awesome.. Oh and Denison road has an underpass now.. WOW,, what changes.. Thanks again..

cool history! I grew up at Lawrence and Keele and used to visit Jane St often (I'm only in my 30s though). Saw many changes

If you could do this for all 7 Go Train lines back and forth, you'd be the best haha!!
@somedudeguytv9 жыл бұрын
HereIsMyChannelName You bring up a good point. I cant for the life of me understand why they did not use standard GO equipment for this route and treat it as a regular Go Transit service route. At the very least, they could have modified some Bi-level coaches to better suit luggage storage. So much money could have been saved that way.
@irtbmtind899 жыл бұрын
somedudeguytv Metrolinx should have added frequent all day GO train service between Brampton and Toronto and extended the airport people mover out to the Weston sub, like at Newark and JFK airports.
@bb3ca2019 жыл бұрын
+irtbmtind89 at one point a few years ago, there actually WAS all day svc (every 2 hrs during non-rush; I used to take it). It may have been a trial, or they may have stopped it to build the UP
@irtbmtind899 жыл бұрын
Robert W It was a single train that went back and forth between Union and Bramalea, and it was cancelled for UPX construction. Apparently proper all day service is starting in September all the way out to Mt. Pleasant.
@bb3ca2019 жыл бұрын
+irtbmtind89 yes, I remember that (I used to take it to Bramalea). I hope they do decide to reinstate it, because there were a lot of people using it

sometimes there is a cab that has a couple of seats on the left next to the drivers room, so you can film i think

it is a bit slow for an airport express....also the frequency with just 2 trains an hour, isn't it a bit inadequate? Why isn't there an electric traction?
@CharlieND8 жыл бұрын
Actually there's 4 per hour. And it can get to over 80 mph in places.
@ΓιώργοςΜπέκας-ν8ψ8 жыл бұрын
Ziggmanster why is it not electric?
@marks66638 жыл бұрын
Because they wanted to get the service running for the Pan Am games, and electric would have taken a lot more time.

I looked at both of Chris' UPE videos. Is this new line normally run left-handed?
@ReiwaMagi8 жыл бұрын
+Richard Makse Yup. I can verify this fact as well since I pass by this line regularly on the way to work. Maybe when the corridor construction is finally complete (Adding one more track for the trains heading to the CP Main line, and one more for the Georgetown Corridor [the one closest to the railpath]) will it go the other way?
@vladstafford6 жыл бұрын
This trip is from the reverse facing cab. It's on the right side. The main cab in the forward direction is dead center.

Honestly expected worse. This isn't bad even by my own, Western European standards.
@PlanetLinuxChannel5 жыл бұрын
Why expect worse? Sure, Canadian cities' public transit may not typically be quite up to the standard of many European cities, but by Western World standards, are usually considerably better than most U.S cities.
