One HAS to comment on the post by Cathy Lincks. (who is obviously just rambling a bunch of nonsense) First, like Manfred Ketz who has a post below, I was on that Super Bowl XIV field with several hundred other awesome young people from 15-20 countries around the world. It was one of the best experiences of my life, and I still go to the reunions every 5 years. Its purpose, in a nutshell, was to bridge cultural gaps between peoples and countries using music as the medium. And it was a tremendous educational experience as well. That Super Bowl performance was just a taste of the many songs written by some of the MOST talented musicians in the 1970's - 1980"s. What an amazing opportunity and PRIVILEGE to have traveled 1979-80 through portions of the United States and central Europe. It gave me a lifetime of memories and close friendships. Oh yes, and one more thing: I don't remember Kool-Aid ever being on the menu!!

Mac, wow! It must have been fabulous to be part of this group! When I was a young girl, my Nana took me to see Up With People, and we had such a wonderful time together that we went every time they came to our area and bought the music, to hold us over until the next year.. For the "old-timey" music (her words) that I hadn't heard before, she would give me a little history on that music and tell me how it influenced her life, and if there was a special dance (like The Charleston), she'd teach me the dance. We loved your shows, and especially how you got people involved. I definitely remember the conga line. Same music, too! We had a ball! We would always marvel at how so much talent was on one stage, each one of you with a heart to help others in need. Thank you for being part of the group that today gives me sweet, special memories of her so happy that she sparkled.

Imagine if it had been the ACTUAL lineup of bands that were booked to play Super bowl 14, Foreigner, UFO Brian Adams and Ozzy Osbourne with Randy Rhoades! Sadly that never came to be as Randy died in the plane accident during the stop to fix an air conditioner on the way to Florida to play the gig. Wonder why the rest of the bands didn't play with a replacement Act for Ozzy? Would have been miles better than this imo.
