If your 12th house lord is in the 9th house, it means that your 12th lord is 10 houses away from the 12th house itself. So you need to start counting 10 houses away from the 9th house (where the 12th lord is actually located) It’ll bring you to the 6th house. So your upapada lagna is the 6th house.

Your 12th lord goes in the 3rd house and sits in Scorpio. So, the distance of 12th lord from 12th house will be 4 because, you have to start counting from 12th house till 3rd house = 4, so from scorpio, you have to count the same number of houses, I.e, 4, so you will have aquarius as your UL sitting in 6th house.

Method to check UL: 1. Check 12th house sign. 2. Check where 12th lord is placed. 3. Find the distance between 12th house and 12th lord (start counting from 12th house itself) 4. Count the same no of houses from 12th lord. 5. So, the sign that you will get will be your UL. 6. The calculation will be anti-clockwise. You have to count 12th house, 1st house, 2nd house and so on. You cannot count 12th house, 11th house, 10th house etc.
