"A book full of spells to bring the spirits back" now, in this song he says the book is in my head. So I think the "book" is really the lyrics he comes up with and the songs he writes that channel the spirit or soul of old school artists, such as Johnny cash, elvis Presley, etc. Hes "bringing the spirits back" by making songs that bring back memories of a time long passed.

I love the song man it reminds me of my great grandpa he taught me how to make moonshine and the mash to make it and he also taught me homemade muscadine wine I have is recipe embedded in my head when I hear and watch this video it reminds me of my childhood and there is nothing else out there that reminds me of him.. I wish there were more songs out in the world today that would make everyonethink about their blood line and where they came from it is songs like this that really do bring those old folk back there need to be more of it... This is Travis coming from the etowah River

When you feel a song hit your soul literally, that’s a rare artist. Literally got goosebumps watching this. The Book of Eli metaphor is deep. I want to know if this was solely your own creation. However, I sense that’s part of the message you’re highlighting in this video. The treasure that holds the most value are your thoughts, dreams, beliefs, ideas and knowledge locked inside your head. It’s your book and story that’s still being written and only you hold the key. Your truth, your memories, your beliefs, your secrets, your desires and your emotions are what makes you who you are. When your alone with your thoughts, you’re living inside your head, in your own world and dimension. People seek the treasure you have, but the treasure is you and there is only one you. You’re authentic and refuse to be duplicated or manipulated. You control what and how much of yourself, you choose to reveal to others, as well as who you allow to affect you. In other words, no one can steal your story because they cannot steal your mind unless you give it to them. You are the creator of and control your own destiny. At least that’s what I felt. I get what you did with that gaze there. Damn that was deep.

im going back and listening to almost all of churches songs and putting all the pieces together. it just goes to prove how honest and true of a person he is. I knew he told his story in his music but it all makes mores sense. This is the Realist Artist out there, that is why everyone wants to take him out and he tells the secrets of not just his success but the "selling of your soul to the devil" once you hear it you cant unhear it. this is the reason i listen to you church. "The book" in my opinion the book is his success. His non dependence on a record label. His lyrics, his soul being a "Traveler" being "The last Mohican" in my opinion every song has led to this. The book is everything he has built and said, and he is sahing he will die before he lets you have "The book"
