🥰 Hi Sherry - I love your channel and your presenting style. You CAN teach an old dog new tricks! I’m a 74year old grandmother in Scotland and I learn something new from every one of your videos. I’ve been sewing all my life but only recently started up-cycling and now think I may never buy a new garment again! For bag makers up-cycling denim I highly recommend Don Kim’s channel. I get garments from Charity shops that are not fit for resale and donate £1 per item. Might be worth asking in your thrift stores. Best wishes from Scotland to you and your followers ❤

Hi and I'm so glad that you enjoy my channel. Thank you for letting me know that my videos are blessing you. 74 years old and from Scotland! Wow! I agree that Don Kim's channel is amazing. I am a subscriber too. Asking about items being thrown away is a great idea. Thank you so much for sharing .

Love your videos! A hint for making a pattern from another garment: put the pattern paper on a piece of cardboard, use a straight pin to punch holes in the pattern paper through the garment, following the shape. Then you can draw a line between holes, add a seam allowance, and you have a pattern. 😊

This is an idea I plan on using. I prefer long sleeved tops but find short sleeved ones are more abundant when thrift shopping. Thank you for sharing.

🧵If you use a tailor’s awl to prick out you get a bigger hole so easier to see 😊Just make sure you have a cutting board underneath and not your best polished table! 🥰

That is great info and I am aware of this but others may not be so thank you for sharing. In the video I'm demonstrating that the pattern isn't particular and that as long as one is in the ballpark it is good enough. I hope that this encourages others to make one.

That shirt is very cute! I have a couple of the temu shirts that are too big and this is a great way to make them more wearable. I do have a request though. Those loosey goosey scissors bug me! Lol

I'm glad you like the tutorial and sorry....but I like my scissors just as they are but you do you. :)

Thank you for the long video including all the details, tips and your thinking along the way. Lightweight hoodies are definitely in style. I hope you'll be able to find second hand clothing to use instead of supporting things like Temu and poor manufacturing. You've taught a lot about really changing up clothes when you upcycle. I feel that i can use shirts even with a logo or design that i don't care for, following your ideas (patching, cutting, etc ).

I'm glad you liked the video....Sadly.....second hand is also usually the Temu stuff. The black shirt which was so cheaply made is a Walmart purchase given to me and the upcycle video I did before that that was all wonky was purchased through an expensive 'gaming' box subscription. It's all junk no matter where you find it it seems. Perhaps vintage? But then you have rot issues to look out for etc. I think doing the best I can do with what ever I find is the only way to survive the industry we have now a days but that is just my opinion.

@@SherryJonesDesigns yes Sherry it's frustrating! Around me is a larger elderly population. They tend to have higher quality clothing. Even the older tshirts are at least all or mostly cotton. So I like garage sales. When I hear things like what you've said i think I should buy every good mens shirt or jeans or dresses of good fabric so I don't run out! Of course, I shouldn't. But it's tough if you can't find decent stuff!

Yes. It is cute on you. I like the thumb idea. That print on the shirt is beautiful.
