Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr. will join famed civil rights Attorney #BenCrump and Carmen Bolden Day, the mother of #JelaniDay, at a 9:00 a.m. press conference Friday, December 3rd, at the Rainbow PUSH Coalition headquarters, 930 E. 50th St., Chicago, IL. Mrs. Day is announcing that she has hired Attorney Crump to find out who murdered her son and why. With the finding of her son’s cell phone, Mrs. Day is hoping that the FBI can access its contents so she can find out what happened to her son just before he was killed. “Ben feels Jelani is also his brother, and he wants to help find more answers and so do I,” Mrs. Day said. Some of the questions include why she received an email from the Peru Police Department asking her to check her email and identify her son’s clothing that two white Illinois State University female students found on the bank of the Illinois River where her son’s body was found. She wants to know why these students have now “lawyered up” and are refusing to talk about the case. Mrs. Day would like to know about an ISU teacher’s alleged possible involvement with her son just before he was killed. Mrs. Day is hoping Attorney Crump can uncover the many secrets that plagues this case-questions she says haunt her every day. “I need answers,” she said. Attorney Crump will make an official statement about this case that has gained national attention. #JusticeForJelaniDay #ThePUSHIsOnForJelani

Wow how evil they knew his mom was looking for his phone and they couldn't call her to let her know sounds like they trying to cover up some more .i don't trust those police there..that's so they could have a chance to go through his phone and take out or maybe add on never know with those devils.

I really feel in my heart that something happened to him on that campus I think he was already deceased when whoever drove his car and body to Peru and scatter his belongings to throw everybody off. Something happened at that campus and they need to look into whoever goes to the school with him or is a professor at the college and it’s from the area of Peru . I strongly feel in my heart that they just planted his stuff there in that town to make it seem like something happened in that town when really it really happened back on that campus!!!!

I agree, why would the university NOT share the surveillance video, in its entirety, i can not believe they would only, show a still picture, yes, something happened to him on campus. When you have nothing to hide you show the surveillance video, in its entirety. #justice4JelaniDay #whathappentooJelaniDay

Until we as people of color stop settling for these kinds of outcomes of our young men and women will continue to be victims and wewill never get justice. The time to stand and stand forevermore is now. It is time to put the knee on the necks of law enforcement and the judicial system and demand change.#justiceforjelani and #Justiceforahmad 🙏❤

I suggest these folks look up the name Bryce Gowdy. Not everything is rosy in life. You can have it all but the pressure of being successful gets to you. Jelani Day wasn’t murdered. He took his own life.

I get why on the surface you think these are the same stories but take a few psychology courses and you will find huge differences….. first thing i see is Bryce acted irrationally in a split second jumped in front of a train. He didnt drive a hour away with no phone park his car, remove his license plate, walk naked for a mile to get to the river and drown himself. Next mental illness shows itself Bryce’s mother knew something wasn’t right days before but she was going through her own struggles and didn’t know how to help him. Jelani had siblings his age and a mother no one ever reported seeing signs of mental illness and these would’ve showed up while he was in college pledging a fraternity, getting a bachelor degree or studying for the entrAnce exam while trying to get into this competitive grad school program if he in fact had them. Yet no one has ever seen this not even his siblings. Next, socioeconomic status plays a role. Carmen seems to be a well put together educated woman who has provided a very stable upbringing for her children meanwhile Bryce was on the cusp of financial security but was homeless. I doubt he has ever seen financial stability because if he had being homeless in this season of life would not have caused an impulsive reaction like this…. There wasn’t anything impulsive about what the police are implying with jelani…. They are saying he made all these calculated moves just to commit suicide. Why do this he wasn’t homeless like Bryce (who in a split second decided life is just too much) actually he already had a bachelors degree and was goal driven. He had a mother who took his calls at anytime regardless of what she was doing but Bryce mother said she was just too broken to empathize with her son in his darkest hour. These stories are light years from each other but you would have to be a mother to understand this…my last point is a woman’s intuition… the universe/ God gives women intuition… Bryce’s mom knew her son had jumped in front of the train she said i didn’t have to hear anything i knew when they said someone jumped in front of the train it was my son vs Carmen she knows the police trying to find a reason to say he did this to himself is not true. Jelani’s mother is saying I speak with him daily if he is suicidal i would’ve known just like Bryce’s mother knew her son was suicidal she spoke with him daily. Carmen knew in this season her son wasn’t suicidal he had just begun the program to become a doctor and this was the first day of class that he went missing. Context clues are essential.
