First story, I wish people will stop saying you'll regret it. The bigger regret is doing something you don't want to do. If you don't want to deal with family, you're not going to regret it. Also, Gramps is the triple OG and Major MVP. He made sure you were taken care of. Oh, that final edit is awesome! The dad is stuck broke and with the affair partner's kid. I hope the younger kid is his because that's his only kid. Second story, OP should give him time. He's going through the biggest lie of his life. His marriage was a sham and his child isn't his. Eventually, you'll have to start over again with him.

2nd story, the dad probably feels two very difficult and conflicting emotions towards this situation. His wife has snatched the daughter out of his life and that his wife has also robbed his daughter of a father. But also, the fact that he calls and is concerned about her, shows he still cares and wants to be there for her. Hi apprehension probably comes from him now not feeling comfortable as an older man who loves a younger woman he isn't related to like a daughter. He probably still wants to be a dad to her, but knows doing so would manoeuvre himself into a situation where people will probably say all the wrong things about him, just because he wants to be a good person. No good deed goes unpunished. Either other people will pick up the story and then question why he is still in her life and make "conclusions", or the ex wife may throw the idea at him or tell other people behind his back just to spite him.

Depending on the circumstances I can't say I fault every man who leaves when finding out the child isn't biologically his, personally I would still encourage them if they had been part of their lives for almost a decade. However I have seen when men who continue to raise the child because they say screw genetics that's my kid only to have it backfire when the kid wants to be with their actual bio father and tosses them aside. However if you make the decision to leave you can't try to waddle your way back into their lives when regret bites you in the ass like I have seen many other men. Life is full of risk, and whether you stay or go you must accept the risk and consequences of your actions do to your relationship with the child.

This isn't always true. I was adopted at 6 months old, I'm now 60 and have never been inclined to find my 'birth parents'. I had the best mom and dad I could ever want, and even though they're dead now, they were all I needed. My younger brother was also adopted, and feels the same. When my mom passed away, I was given an envelope with both mine and my brother's adoption certificates. After talking to my brother, the envelope remains unopened in my safe. DNA doesn't always matter.

@@hkburrows Glad life worked out for you like that. Nowadays though, what with screenings and vaccines and differing medications on metabolism and allergies and everything, genetic family history is essentially a medical necessity for treatment. Your "not always" is a very minute fraction of the probability. Again, and respectfully, glad life worked out for you. That isn't likely an option for the kids of today.

@@Undomaranel medical stuff is important but medical history and relationships is 2 different things. Your family has a history of heart failure vs trying to be best friends with them and picking them over the people who raised you is a huge leap.

Yeah must suck when she also gets married and gets a father in law and It's tragic if they get along really well cause now he's not her only father and the bond is tainted somehow. Yeah no. Raising someone and being a good father had nothing on strangers who weren't there and don't care. It is so rude of you to assume this like you just know and honesty it's gross in my opinion.

Brian, everyone believes its okay to raise someone's child for 18 years without knowing. Wasted time that could've been spent making your own family bloodline.

Me the whole time: Why take it out on a child rather than the person who MADE THE CHILD 🙏🏻

Family is more than just DNA and children should not be held accountable for a parent's cheating behaviour. This is totally unfair. You're supposed to love children unconditionally. This is horrible behaviour toward the kid.

The first story on the video. I hate how they tell him that he'll regret it later and give them a chance because they're family. If they were family they wouldn't abondon an innocent child.

I have a similar experience when I was a teen and I no longer wanted to see my father for multiple reasons. My mom never bad-mouthed my father in any way and always tried to push for me to go to him on his weekend (where I'm from the child can choose once they are 12+ and I stopped going as much since 13ish years old). When I was 14 (maybe just 15) he remarried and I didn't want to go. But my mother basically forced me to, saying I would regret not going later down the line and he was 'still my father'. Which other people tried to tell me as well. I had literally cried in the car, refusing to get out because I did not want to be there but ended up forced to attend. I did end up leaving early (right after the ceremony) with my oldest sister (she had her own issues with our father but was there out of respect or something, I'm not even sure). But of course my father had to tell me he was disappointed in me, my stepbrother said I was a brat and I got plenty of nasty glances from everyone (especially father's parents, who I had already cut out of my life at 11/12 since they never kept their word). Cut all contact with him when I was 17. When I graduated highschool (at 18ish) my mom also invited my father with the same excuse that 'I would regret it later' if he wouldn't be there. I did not even look at him when he was there and walked away when he tried to approach, even ending up going home early because I was so done. I still regret not having listened to myself at those times, but everyone basically told me the same thing they told OP. I was a spiteful teenager, didn't know what I was doing or what I really wanteed, I would regret things etc. And yes, I ended up regretting things, but more so the fact I let myself be swayed by those people so often! Went without talking to my dad until I was maybe 21/22 when he wanted a second chance. I did not want to, again was swayed by others with the same excuses, and once again he trampled all over my boundaries, which made me distance myself again and ignoring him. I think at 24 I cut him out all over again through a LONG letter my therapist had me write, with all the things I forgave him for (partially also to let him know all the things he hurt me with) and that even though I forgave him for the sake of my own mental health, this did not mean I wanted a relationship with him and I did not want him to ever contact me again. According to my mom he has been really sad about it but honestly I couldn't care less. I could be called today and be told he would be dead and honestly I wouldn't feel a thing (aside from maybe relief to know he wouldn't be able to cross my boundaries again). I would be way more affected if either of my in laws would die, because they have actually been there, supported me and helped me grow as a person from day 1. You choose your family, blood has nothing to do with it.

Op, I cannot believe that an older brother only hit his younger brother one time. Rewind back in the day and brothers beat the crap out of each other on a daily basis.

All babies should be tested at birth to confirm paternity. Paternity fraud is disgusting and should be punished by years in jail, not rewarded with child support.

My grandmother lived SF in 1906 Earthquake, she remembers that her dad was removing a picture above her bed. Her grandfather saved a huge chest and dragged it down Mission Street. A soldier gave her a her a bunch of candy and their house on Elizabeth st. was ok. Any one from SF knows those streets. She also stole her fathers car in 1914. She was a pistol for the time, she smoked and wanted to go to college...her father said no....secretarial school. Times have changed.

I sympathize with this guy. My birth mom’s best friend (my mom) adopted me because she didn’t want me to go into the system. I should mention that she has made some horrible decisions since having me. I’m very happy with my family and no one has ever tried to hide anything about my birth mother from me. She was allowed to send letters, and before we moved I even visited her in jail a few times. But then when I was in 3rd grade, she stopped sending letters. I wasn’t very hung up about it and forgot about her. As I got older, my mom stopped sugarcoating how bad of a person my birth mother was sometimes. She also told me about how she attempted to let my aunts and uncles visit me, but they refused to unless she gave them gas money. Everything was fine until they started trying to contact me again. Apparently my birth mother wanted to talk with me again, but in person. They asked me mom, who asked me, and I said no but she was free to send letters. They wouldn’t take that and started asking around my adoptive family. They even asked my brother for pictures of me. Luckily no one responded, but now I’m reluctant to even get letters from them.
