"Ridiculous" is not having the knowledge and you buy the item, i.e. BUYING LAND WITHOUT A CERTIFIED SURVEY! IF THERE ARE NO CERTIFIED STAKES (GO LOOKUP THE TERMINOLOGY) YOU HAVE NO IDEA OF THE ACTUAL CERTIFIED MEASUREMENT OF THE LAND YOU ARE BUYING. Amazing when people buy land and the house they believe they bought IS LEGALLY ON ANOTHER PERSON'S PROPERTY. OOOPS... Ridiculous? Yes! The phrase, "Buyer be Aware and Knowledgeable" ring a bell?

What you can do is get everything ready. All your measurements even materials cut so once you get the permit you can slap it all together in a day. Wait for inspection and slap all the rest together in a day. Any exterior wood you are installing you can pre paint before installing. Then all you have to do is cover nail or screw holes with caulking until the nice weather hits. You don't even have to paint the finish color just get a coat on it so it is protected from the elements over the winter!.

Hang in there. You are getting there. I would buy some of the things that you can that you will need to secure the braces and stuff. That way, it will not all hit you at once. So concentrate on the bus for now, get it ready for the weather. You also might want to get a couple electric heating units to have now that you don't have the wood stove. I hope the Township Engineer will approve the blueprints on this first pass! I hope Township Electrical Engineer as well as Township Ordiences do not require Licensed Tradesman to perform the work. If you can perform the work yourself Issac, may I suggest you do not hand drywall or place insulation to cover your work! The Inspector can request FULL VIEW OF THE WORK and you will have to tear out the dry wall/insulation!! Yep....and then reschedule another inspection date!!!

I am am glad you are learning all of this - there are a ton of you tube channels of couples renovating and in the same situation as you. Not sure why all this is a surprise to you. Engineered buildings and permits/inspections are to ensure your families safety and ensure you don’t waste money with repairs that don’t last.
