The Mets are treating Pete like trash offering THREE YEARS to the most prolific hitter than Piazza. Pete has a few 40 HR, 100 RBI seasons left! Pete over Bergman. Pete can be the DH next year. They overpaid for Soto, so they are not going to overpay for Alonso. Alonso has had two straight subpar seasons. All this past season, fans were asking when he would start to go on a run. He never went on a run during the regular season. Teams are concerned about him because of his subpar seasons and a decrease in his exit velocity.
