You are my favorite best friend I've never met. I had never even touched a plant in the before times. I spent a good part of 2020 watching almost all of your videos, then I tried my best to copy you, and put a few hundred perennials in my garden (that used to be a yard). It got me through it. And now, people are starting to hire me to help them with the most fulfilling hobby of my life! You have the 'garden answer' for everything I need to know, your enthusiasm is a quality everyone wants to be around, your gumption made me brave enough to try anything that seemed out of my depth (all of it), and you might be the most likable person alive. At the very least, I really really hope you have a great day, week, life, all of it! What you've done for me, so many, you deserve all the happiness you've put out, which is a tremendous amount. Thank you from me, and all of your other best friends you've never met. I'm not crying!

Nice to see Captain Jack has some natural weed killer. Although I like dandelions for the early pollinators and dandelion salad so I leave mine. These projects, although on a larger scale then my own, have really inspired me to get out and garden, garden, garden. This morning I planted a weeping ginkho tree, three coral peonies, straightened a crooked ever-blooming lilac, planted beets, sugar snap peas, snow peas and cabbages, weeded and mulched, so very satisfying - oh and I labeled alot because I have a memory like a sieve when it comes to names of plants or where they might be located. So thanks for the inspiration :)

Good Morning y'all. The only reason I could think why a barrier would be that deep is to attempt to keep gophers, voles, and/or moles out of the garden. At the time the owner put it in, maybe they only gardened close to the house and had an issue with borrowing critters from the nearby vacant fields?

I do most of my transplant planting on overcast or rainy days because over the years I realized plants survive transplant shock much better if they're not in the sun. It may be helpful to put a tarp over that Redbud Tree if the sun comes out really strong. I found it's hard to bring a plant back from heavy wilting and it's way better to try to prevent it. On the sunny days, I'd relax on the porch and read a book.

In Norway the mulch is made of bark from evergreens like spruce and pine. In wich makes the soil more acid. I dont know what your mulch is made of, but using one with evergreens should make your soil slightly more acidic. So much fun seeing Benjamin working along in the garden. :)

The concrete barrier might have been a berm used to keep in flood irrigation water

Exciting! I understand the stress with upheaval, I always feel like that too - but in the end it is going to be SO amazing. Over the weekend I rewatched your garden tour videos from the last several years (please don't ever stop doing those! 🥰 ) and the transformation is incredible. The first one I watched was when you first moved in and showed the skinny sidewalk with the over grown shrubs - when I watched the video that showed the re-do of the that area, all I could think was Wow! You inspire me to take risks and try new things in my yard - thank you to both you and Aaron. My yard looks the best it ever has! 🌺🌷🌺🌷

Believe it or not! I use a bleach and water mixture on my weed infested river rock in the garden. It kills the mold/mildew and leaves the rock smelling really fresh and clean. It works for me because I don't want to take that chance with my ole gurl, Miss Muffett, my Maltese-pug mix dog. Thanks for sharing...

Yes. I love when they introduce us to new products. I just received my new hose connections from Epley and they are so beefy. I'm very impressed. Maybe now I will get my drip irrigation set up. I've only had the hose and other parts for three seasons.

My babies picked a pitcher full of dandelion "weeds" and I made jelly with it. Tastes like honey.

ahhh, the chaos of improvement... can be disconcerting but it's all good... you will be so happy that the brick walkway is done, and that Hartley was a great surprise.. i am so looking forward to seeing things changing! i was just thinking about your tree peony; i watched the video where you planted it and wondered how it was doing... plants are so resilient, so we'll hope they all bounce back soon... love seeing Russell inspecting the work and giving his opinion, he's a man of few words :) (mrow!) .. thanks for the heads up with the Cap'n Jack.. we use burnout on our gravel paths but it's nice to have an alternative, and for the grass too... great info, fun stuff!!! and Benjamin as cute as ever :)

I bet that Aaron is just 'YESS'!!' 😅 diggers ... get it all done ... woohooo 😅 👍🏼 I think its wonderful... you've been side eyeing those mismatched pavers from the start, so... this is great! Russel checking out the tree peony as if asking 'what are you doing here? You're new!' I wonder how the cats are handling all the ruckus? 💕

Caprylic and capric acids are fatty acids found in coconut oil, palm kernel oil, goat and other mammal milk (where they get their names), so they are indeed organic!

Maybe because of those moles that digs up all your flower beds! Make a barrier for them to keep them from going under the house? Idk probably not the reason lol

Maybe at one point the barrier was a cement fence that got back filled with dirt

The concrete border could have been put in place to prevent the ground from shifting around the home's foundation. There are some large plots of farmland around here that have been purchased and homes built on. Because the soil was used so much for planting, the ground was soft and moved around a lot. Some of the older neighborhoods have experienced flooding during our rainy season, and foundation damage because of the shifting ground. One newer neighborhood close by actually had a landslide, and the engineers were blamed for not reinforcing with enough of these barriers. I'm sure you guys consulted with an expert before ripping it out though!

Also, thanks for the weedkiller recommendation. I went out to buy both types. It’s getting hard to crawl around pulling weeds. Hope this helps.
