You're kidding, right? Trump can still run for president with a 36 felony convictions. He can't vote as a convicted felon but he can run for president even though he should never have any kind of security clearance. There has to be minimum qualifications for public office. He had a commercial van full of stolen signs at his house so we handed it off to law enforcement after a couple photos. They shut him down. Nothing happens if you don’t do something. As a Sheriff’s Captain with 27 years and counting of law enforcement and courtroom experience, I know that the law doesn’t work that way. Assuming you are a former law enforcement officer, you should know that as well. The Sheriff would be investigated and it would have to be proven what exactly he’s done, if anything. What he’s done, if anything, may not even be a crime in that jurisdiction. It may only be an infraction. If that’s the case, then it would not warrant an arrest and certainly wouldn’t warrant removing him from office. You should know better.

Fun fact. My out of state mail in ballot went missing. So i called. Instead of being mailed to me in FL, my local clerk “accidentally” sent it to my home address. As someone who lives in Portage County, I was not surprised by the sheriff’s action or the lack of action by the state government. Gerrymandering has been a problem for years in Ohio. Issue one on our ballot addresses this issue. I’ll be voting yes on Issue 1!

​@@jasonschulz3819 Clevelander here Issue one will put district map drawing in the hands of civilians: 5 democrats, 5 republicans, 5 independents. Bipartisan judges will oversee & approve the maps. Ohio used to be a swing state until shady Republicans started rigging the game, giving more power to rural red areas & less to cities and suburbs. Case in point: we voted overwhelmingly for abortion rights & legalization of Marijuana... Despite them wording the issues in ways designed to confuse people. They're doing it now with issue 1. Very slimy.

@@dbird1356 No, it's an elected position. You can only be removed through impeachment from it or lose an election. Impeachment from the position varies by state. They still can't fire him outright as it isn't a hired position. He can still be charged, convicted, and sent to prison. If the conviction makes him ineligible to hold that office, which is possible in some circumstances, that would be another possible way, but it's very remote. He isn't a chief of police. County sheriffs are different here in the USA than that and aren't employees, they're politicians, like the District Attorney.

I know we don't put signs in our yard because we live in a neighborhood/community with a lot of Trump signs. And we would never want to be discriminated against because of our political views. I am a healthcare worker and know that my professionalism comes before politics But even at that you know it would be hard when some guy has swastikas tattooed on his chest and a Jewish doctor is trying to save his life. With that in mind, it is not hard to imagine a lesser scenario, where people in your community who are maga could use their profession to make your life a little bit harder knowing you have Harris signs in your yard. Sad, but I do think it is a reasonable concern. Now, if you know me personally, you know who I am supporting. But just driving by my yard, having that be the only context in which you know me or my family- nope, I don't want the hate spewed my way. And I don't think Harris supporters would automatically discount anyone just because they didn't put a sign in the yard.

I voted early 💙💙💙 But I'm still getting big numbers of texts from all the candidates all over the country asking for more money and I'm an over 65 woman living on Social Security. I've sent what I can, but I can't send all my money to all candidates. I get multiples of requests every single day! I thought if I voted early, that would stop, but it doesn't. I would have sent some of those donations anyway, but some I just felt guilted into. It's been every day for at LEAST two years! I wish there were a way to change the election financing so that we could count on the candidates to work for US and not for the big doners that they'll have to cow-tow to, and not to us that give them our measly $10 or $25. Running for office shouldn't be about who can grow their pocket biggest!

DOJ shouldn’t per se be going after the sheriff rather those in state gov who are failing to do something concerning the sheriff. In the end hold them all accountable if possible; this sheriff needs to be removed from his position one way or another.

A County Sherriff in Ohio is a 4 year elected position (you don't even need Law Enforcement credentials to hold the office of Sheriff) As an Elected official, he can't be fired or removed unless he was convicted of a crime. the only way to get rid of him is to vote him out of office. Even the county commissioners can't remove him, they could only ask for his resignation and he doesn't have to comply.
