@@thrillcollectorswhether or not you like it, he writes other stories. He's allowed to write what he wants to write when he wants to write them. Saying "it's been 13 years" is a pointless comment, he'll get it done when he has time. He's a big name and a lot of people want to work with him. The sheer amount of sh** he works on and is involved with is astounding. His life is much much more than just GoT. Even if you think he has a responsibility to the fans to finish it fast, he really absolutely does not. He's written 5 books and various novellas for that series over almost 30 years, if there's any "responsibility" to placate the fans, He's gone above and beyond to so. You also glossoer he fact that he had to restart writing book 6 by scratch like it means nothing. Imagine you're playing a hard ass game and your progress gets lost half way through, you're not gonna go right back into level 1. You're probably gonna take a break for your own sanity. It's exponentially worse when it comes to writing. But He's still writing it and is self admittedly 3/4 of the way through. In short, stop bit****, you probably haven't even read any of the books and are looking for clout on KZbin, which you wont get

You gotta hand it to Miura. He also started his sprawling epic in the 90s and even though he died he gave his best friend the story and taught his students his art style and we might actually see the end of Berserk even though the creator died before he could finish it. George handed his story to a bunch of incompetent grifters who got bored telling George's story about half way and started making shit up.

berserk is significantly less convoluted than game of thrones. in fact, game of thrones is one of the longest, most convoluted, most detailed, most intertwined series of book/story literature ever written. berserk is beautifully simple, with only a small handful of characters and an expertly crafted philosophical and moral background in a medieval setting. the entire story of berserk would be less than a single chapter of a single book in got.
@psevdhome
@psevdhome 9 ай бұрын
@@etteugab8397 I get your point, but I totally disagree that berserk is very simple. Not on the same grand scale as asoiaf of course. But still not as simple. I get that saying it would be less than one chapter is just rhetorical exaggeration but it's still a bit much.
@etteugab8397
@etteugab8397 9 ай бұрын
@@psevdhome berserk achieves beauty with a very small cast of characters, a very tightly knit plotline, and almost no worldbuilding at all. the series is about the internal struggles of one man, and its beautiful. it also tells its story through art, so theres as much detail that you can see. asoiaf tells the story through long, verbose descriptions with as much detail as humanly possible, whilst also including internal struggles of every character they could possibly introduce.
@psevdhome
@psevdhome 9 ай бұрын
@@etteugab8397 Very well written! I realise I was just personally annoyed by how you phrased things, but that has nothing to do with what you actually say, the content. Very good analysis! I do understand that Asoiaf has vivid descriptions whereas Berserk has amazing art. I wonder is art like berserk even able to be put into words? Could you make an Asoiaf comic that had an artist that could bring the descriptions that Martin gives into a visual medium? Probably not!

If George completes Winds of Winter by 2024 at the latest. He will be doing the world one of the greatest fantasy books ever written. The man can write, such a shame that time is running its course. He's about 75% done so tidy up the first half of the book a bit and release it, then he can say winds part 2 is halfway done. and to be honest if its going to be longer than Storm and Dance it will need to be split into two anyway to prevent issues with binding so you might as well release a part 1

Maybe if *The Winds Of Winter* is ultimately as large as Mr. Martin suggests, something could be done once it's finished. Maybe release it in two volumes so that each one isn't gargantuan in terms of literal book size. I remember getting *A Storm Of Swords* when that first came out and that book was *HUGE*. It was so big and I read it so much it eventually got worn out. Pages started falling out and the spine literally almost split in half. Not because I was rough with the book (I was very careful with it) but the thing was just so large it eventually literally broke.

@Pixtureske Because that’s not how it works bro, just because has written 2000 Pages it doesnt mean that page 10 is complete yet. He literally said in this short that he jumps back and rewrites earlier chapters

What a pity it would be if he would die before he could finish the last two books. And I’m not going to start reading the books before they’re all available, because the TV show is still great in my mind and I don’t want to spoil that by replacing only about 60% of the story with the so far published books.

“The enemy of art is the absence of limitations.” - Orson Welles It’s becoming increasingly clear that Martin is not going to finish ASOIAF bc he is addicted to the creative process of writing it…thereby ruining one of the greatest tv series of all time. Martin is a good writer, but he is stuck in the creative process and in love with the characters and the story so much he can’t finish it. Once the work is finished, it’s no longer part of your artistic journey. As a songwriter, I know how this happens and have seen it. All throughout history, great art became mediocre bc of this flaw.

So just release half of this big big book and then the release the other half when you decide to write those ideas down to finish it.

I think he’s wrapping up storylines and one way or another we’ll get both books eventually. Obviously that can easily not be the case but I still have faith in my favorite author.

As it happens, this is what he’s said is the actual reason it’s taking so long. There are a lot of character-arcs he decided to wrap up a book earlier than intended. Otherwise there’d be too many subplots/storylines about other characters going on at the same time as the main story of ADOS, so he decided to end those characters’ stories in TWOW instead (hence him needing to go back and redo earlier chapters, to set up their conclusions).

I blame Dan and Dave. They stole all of his time during the early seasons, and then when they were on their own they tanked the show and probably made George rethink the whole direction of the series.

Show and book are 2 completely different things. Of course the show runners weren’t able to write a story after source material ran out. They expected him to be done by the time they got to the 6th season. It didn’t work out. That’s not the show runners fault. It’s funny ppl act like they as talented of writers as the actual author of the book.

It's not even about the waiting at this point George has burned a lot of fans with false promises and fake updates any update he mentioned about winds during g.o.t run is fake he literally wrote nothing during the shows run wasted years screen writing for the show and working on other projects its honestly just disrespectful to the fans at this point

@ScientificBeatz we expect show runners to be able to write original content georeg gave them and outline and the show runners were just lazy I seen fan made scripts for the last season that just makes so much more sense

My guess is he decided at least 10 years ago that he was unable or uninterested in finishing the series..he cant say that because it hurts sise stream revenue from filler books and spin off series.. source? Its a guess..but at this point im becoming sadly confident in the guess..
