I don't, if he's done with ASOIF like he's told many fans he is, then he just give it to another author to finish. He refuses to do that, but he also refuses to write it. Not a great thing to do to your fans, just give it to Sanderson or Abercrombie would do a good job too, so many great authors can finish this.

Sidenote... The way George talks about HotD makes me so happy. He says that he wishes he could've fleshed out fire and blood more, even turning it into a novel, but that's what the show has done in many ways. How many characters have been improved upon? Viserys, especially. I would've never thought that Viserys of all characters would be the heart and soul of season 1, but with great writing and Paddy's unbelievable performance, we actually got a much improved, more complicated version of Viserys that surpassed his counterpart in F&B. George has to be happy with that. Even if it's not him writing these characters for the show, it's gotta be great seeing characters be improved upon.

I have just started reading ASOIAF and the rest of the Westeros books after watching both GoT and HotD. I am thoroughly enjoying the first book. I have the upmost respect and greatest admiration for George RR Martin as a writer and world builder and I only hope that the potential stress and pressure that he could be under because of it’s popularity isn’t affecting his personal life too much. As badly as I want to see more of Westeros, I hope this man can enjoy his own real life.

Does anyone have that voice inside their head which explains things to them? I do and i imagine George has the same voice but more intelligent and complex. Thinking about his process is amazing to me. How can one man sit there and come up with lore, build a consistent world, establish characters, the way they think, their motivations, their fears ect? Truly a special mind and i hope one day i can thank him for what his world of asoiaf has given to my mind and soul.

I love this man because he just simply is here and now for us. His imagination and his tool - the creativity gave us a lot of history, fantasy and life experiences shared which will inspire the young writers ( novelists, poets, screewriters, directors etc.) I hope he will finish soon the Winds of Winter because i have been reading more than 2 months his epic fantasy series "A song of Ice and Fire" and I am running quite fast now the Dance of Dragons 1st vol almost 50% milestone:) Soon I will finish the 1st volume of it and then comes the 2nd one. Then is the Fire and Blood, so anxious and enthusiastic to run into this fantasy realm, but still waiting very curious and thirsty for knowledge the "Winds of Winter". Wish you the best inspiration to finish it and release it and also for the other projects as well. I am very happy to see that you exist in our lifes and in the Westeros life which is also a real inspiration for my writing project too.

George has consistently made a point to mention Dawn in his interviews. And now he says that Dawn is more potent than the Valyrian steel swords. And there’s a character in the books, Darkstar, who’s trying to steal it from Starfall for unknown reasons. Dawn will make its way north where it will likely make its way into Jon Snow’s hands or at least factor into the Long Night. Interesting.

Watching him look back and forward to the many stories he wants to write and enjoy is just... fascinatingly sad and inspirational, at the same time. I am a writer, at least an aspiring one, and currently working on my own fantasy world and projects. In advance, excuse me for the little life story and wishes... ASOIAF is one of my biggest influences, and I do not doubt the fact that my style is derived from George's style, as well as his prose. The story I'm working on is about as big in word count and every time I sit down... and fill-in the gaps of lore... I feel the near-constant desire to explore further. The thought and realistic dread that I won't be able to tell all of it, is sad. Though I am currently "only" 22 years old, so I hopefully have many more years of a career(?)... it is true that the many stories I have planned out could eventually be too overwhelming. I wish, I do wish, that I'll be able to achieve at least 0.1% of George's success. But I hope that I'll eventually have my own plank filled with the massive story I wrote, point my finger at it and say to anyone near and far: "Yes, that is my achievement." A small disclaimer... I'm Dutch, I write in Dutch. Before anyone comments on grammar, or any other, errors. But if you ever see a work by L.A. Fintelman, and a title with some version of "Energy/Energie/etc."... that is me, lol. Edit: Though I have to mention that I doubt anyone will.

I promised myself to forget about this great setting until (and if) all the books are out, after reading I never even watched the show past season two. I just couldn't stand the possible pain of being immersed and knowing it will never be finished. House of the dragon baited me in again. Well no he says specifically in the context of human advancement in exploring space when compared to the 50s & 60s Science Fiction visions of the future. Where he religiously believed in those ideas, that we would be out exploring, but in the last like half a century we went to the Moon once & got bored. So compared to *that* idealised vision of the past he is more pessimistic.
